Weekly Wrap Up #14 (Week In My Life + OOTW)

The week before spring break is always a drag because lots of studying for the final tests of the quarter + wishing for the weekend seems endless. I had the best time and am so thankful to have been able to travel with my sister and mom. I am now on break and will be enjoying some time at home for the next week or so. What have you all been up to lately?! Let me know in the comments below along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. Sending you all my love. With love, McKenz.

February Favorites

Hello everyone, and welcome back to styledbymckenz! I hope your day is off to a fabulous start; the end of February is here already (feels like just yesterday was Christmas) which means it’s time to share with you all what I have been loving this month + what’s been going on!

Not much has changed this month as far as my taste in clothing. I am still obsessed with all things street style but haven’t been wearing things that necessarily reflect this. Where I live we had about ten days where the weather ranged from mid-sixties to upper seventies that was so amazing. I was able to pull out my overalls for a day and a few other spring pieces I am so happy about it and am trying to incorporate more color into my day-to-day outfits. Oh, and my white Vans. I seriously wear them everywhere all the time.

Processed with VSCO with hb2 presetI have been loving natural makeup this month so my Buxom Lip-glosses and the Lumene Bronzer have been staples for my everyday makeup routine. I have finished the cycle of eyeshadow palettes for my Makeup Of The Week’s and have been eyeing a Morphe palette and the Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette to get next as it has been quite a while since I last purchased a new palette.

Processed with VSCO with a4 presetI figured I would show you my favorite page in my Bible from this past month. I doodled this page from the verses Isaiah 42 and am so in love with how it turned out. I’ve been spending a lot more time with Jesus recently and praying for peace of mind and in every aspect of my life. I am in the midst of reading Acts as of right now!

I am currently watching Gilmore Girls and am in the middle of Season 1 and am liking it so far but hope that it picks up a bit because it’s kind of slow right now! As far as music goes, I have been obsessed with Spotify and all the different playlist’s they have made up. I love how there is one for bad days, study time, relaxation, shower singing, and so on.

I am slowly but surely accomplishing what I talked about last month as far as goals go. I am really putting forth effort into my Instagram and making this blog exactly what I want it to be while still staying true to myself. In March I hope to hit 2,000 Instagram followers and accept that life is only as good as we chose to make it.

Processed with VSCO with hb2 presetWell, what have you ben loving this month?! Let me know in the comments below, along with any questions, comments, or requests you may have for me! I am always happy to chat. Wishing you the best today and always. With love, McKenz.

Date Night Outfit Ideas for Valentine’s Day

Hey y’all! I have been on such a Valentine’s Day kick lately and since my twin sister Madison and her boyfriend Colton are always happy to help me out when it come’s to blogging they didn’t seem too disappointed when I asked them to help me out with a few date night outfit ideas and get some cute pictures together.

Originally I was hoping that I could have a few more of my friends and their boyfriends be featured in this post but that didn’t end up working out as I had hoped. So instead the three of us all had to do an outfit change. Which despite the freezing weather, didn’t end up being so bad.

I picked out all of our outfits to somewhat coordinate for the sake of the cohesive feel I hoped this post to have, For the first set of outfits I went for the pops of pink and of course Colton’s red flannel. This worked out perfectly with the Valentine’s Day banner that I had hanging from the gate.

For the second group of outfits I went for olive-green and some pops of pink in my shoes and Madison’s necklace. Nothing too overpowering, but still a subtle touch to remind you of the holiday.

Breaking out my light pink lace ups and a coordinating necklace for this look to keep it simple and chic.

Left Outfit Details- top: Old Navy, necklace: Francesca’s, jeans: Hollister, flats: Glicks, watch: Kohls, bracelet: Boho Betty (use code ‘styledbymckenz’ at checkout for 20% off)

I went for my cargo jacket for this look and pinched it at the waist, plus threw on this gold purse for some added flair.

Right Outfit Details- jacket: TJ Maxx, jeans: Hollister, flats: Glicks, purse: Gap, watch: Kohls, bracelet: Boho Betty

Madison is all for the preppy style so I put her in a pink button up and a simple white vest. She looks so classic and of course her hair looks perfect as per usual.

Left Outfit Details- shirt: Gap, vest: Old Navy, necklace: Kendra Scott, bracelet: KJP, watch: Fossil, jeans: Hollister, leg warmers: Kohls, riding boots: Kohls

As you can tell from these looks and my post ‘Styling My Twin Sister for a Week‘ Madison is a vest kind of gal. This coordinated perfect with Colton and her light pink necklace added a subtle pop.

Right Outfit Details- vest: Old Navy, sweater: American Eagle, necklace: Charming Charlies, jeans: Hollister, leg warmers: Kohls, riding boots: Kohls

Let me tell you, picking out boy outfits is so far from easy. This red flannel was perfect for this post with the red and pops of white. Colton is a Khaki’s kind of guy and his black shoes pulled the look together.

Left Outfit Details- shirt: Abercrombie&Fitch, pants: TJ Maxx, shoes: VANS

This simple outfit is so simple and matches so well. Thank you Colton for not being complicated in front of the camera!!
Right Outfit Details-  Shirt: Unknown, pants: TJ Maxx, shoes: VANS

The banner used in today’s post is from Hunter&Honey and is seriously so adorable.

Feel free to check out their Instagram here, and their Facebook page here if you’re interested in this banner or any other personalized goodies!

I want to give a huge thank you to Colton (and Madison!) for being such a good sport in front of the camera and my sweet momma for taking these gorgeous pictures for today’s post! I could not be happier with how they turned out and had such a good time taking them.

Alright ladies and gents, that’s a wrap for today’s post. I hope you got some ideas from these casual date night inspired looks. Let us know which look was your favorite or what you’re doing this Valentine’s Day in the comments below along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. Have a fabulous day! With love, McKenz.

January Favorites

January has come and gone in the blink of an eye meaning it’s time for another monthly favorites post. Keep reading to see what makeup products, outfits, and Bible verses I have been loving, plus everything in between.

This month I have absolutely fallen in love with street style and any clothing piece that is out there and different. I haven’t necessarily incorporated these things into my everyday wardrobe but it’s getting there! This month I experimented with lots of denim, chokers, anything velvet, and various shoes that I received for Christmas. Above are a few of my favorite outfits from this month.

IMG_4339.JPGAs far as makeup goes, I have fallen in love with matte liquid lipsticks and lip gloss. Something about lip gloss just does it for me. I have gone back to using one eyeshadow palette per week in hopes to equally use my makeup and have to say that Naked One was definitely my favorite this month. Other than that, I haven’t really come across any jaw dropping products this month.

Processed with VSCO with c4 preset

I figured I’d show you all my favorite page in my Bible from this month. It took me forever but Psalm 86 is so beautiful that it was worth it. These verses are such a reminder that Jesus has the power to save us with his love if we open up and allow him to. I highly recommend you reading these verses!

I am still watching 90210 but will most likely be finishing soon so leave me Netflix suggestions below… please. For music I have been loving the songs ‘More Than Anyone’ by Gavin DeGraw and ‘Be Yourself’ by Harrison Storm.

This month I have really wanted to be better in every way. I am trying to really step up my blogging game and slowly but surely up my Instagram game and I want to thank you all because I wouldn’t be where I am without you all. Also a huge hank you for helping me break record views this month! Stay tuned for some very exciting content coming your way in February!

Over The Knee Lookbook

Up until Christmas over the knee boots had been on my wish list for the longest time. I was fortunate enough to have received a pair from my grandparents this year and instantly raided Pinterest, Instagram, and YouTube for some inspiration on how to wear them. I’m still experimenting with them and doing my best not to make them look inappropriate so today I am here with an over the knee l0okbook. I hope you all enjoy!

I have found that surprisingly my over the knees provide an added warmth when I wear them due to how much leg they cover which is super nice. For the days I need to bundle up I’ll throw on a turtle neck, my cute grey pea coat, and an oversized blanket scarf to complete the look.

jacket: Gap, turtle neck: Old Navy, jeans: Hollister, OTK boots: DSW, scarf: DSW

I have been wanting to style my boots with a skirt so bad and decided to try it out with a turtle neck sweater overtop. I ended up loving it more than expected and found that this outfit would look perfect with tights and a cute clutch as well.

sweater: Old Navy, skirt: Forever 21, OTK boots: DSW

My faux fur vest is one of my favorite pieces to style lately so it was inevitable that I try pairing it with my boots. This outfit is perfect for the everyday outfit and would look great with a long necklace added.

vest: Old Navy, turtle neck: Old Navy, jeans: Hollister, OTK boots: DSW

I am totally in love with these boots and the endless ways to style them. You can buy them here if you love them too! Let me know which outfit was your favorite in the comments below along with any questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. Wishing you all the best today and always.
With love, McKenz.

Weekly Wrap Up

Weekly Wrap Up #1 (Week in my life + OOTW)

Wooohoooo! New Year calls for starting fresh with the Weekly Wrap Ups. If you’re new be sure to stick around, Weekly Wrap Ups are a combination of a week in my life and outfit of the week and go up every single Sunday. I decided to start fresh with my number in hopes to have a bit more inspiration and to get super excited about blogging every weekend. This week was the dreaded week of going back to school but it was alright because I had new clothes to wear, makeup to try, and was happy to be back with all of my friends. Unfortunately, we don’t take finals before we go on break so I am stuck studying and dreading the tests that are coming in the near future. Also, my apologies for the random outfit locations this week. I really hate to have them scattered amongst different places like they were this week but it was either raining, I couldn’t find someone to help me take my picture, or it was 10 degrees outside. I’m human people.. try and bear with me please lol! And yes, I cheered for something almost ever single day this week.

Let me know which outfit was your favorite along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me! Wishing you the best week ahead. With love, McKenz.

Pinterest Outfit Recreations (Holiday Edition)

I can not believe tomorrow is Christmas Eve! I can hardly wait. Today I wanted to share some more Pinterest outfit recreations. I adore recreating outfits that I have saved because it allows me to search my closet and really be creative with the stuff I already own. I tried to pick a few outfits for this post that are more appropriate for the holiday season in case you are still in need of some outfit inspiration for the next few says. Alright before I keep talking too much, let’s get on into the outfits!

By the way, these outfits aren’t as similar as some of my other Pinterest outfit recreations! I apologize, but I wanted to really be creative and step out of my comfort zone a bit!

I chose this outfit to recreate because I am obsessed with velvet currently! This dress is a few years old and paired so perfectly with my favorite lace up heels.

Outfit Details- dress: Aeropostale, necklaces: Loft and Charming Charlies, heels: DSW

This is one of my favorite outfits that I have pinned recently but it was the hardest to recreate. I haven’t worn my leather jacket lately so I pulled the out for the look and paired it with this cozy grey turtle neck.

Outfit Details- jacket: Target, sweater: Old Navy, jeans: Hollister, booties: TJ Maxx, purse: Target, choker: DIY

This little black dress outfit is perfect for this time of year if you show on a jacket and a pop of color somewhere. I figured a maroon bubble necklace and a maroon lippie will completely tie this look together.

Outfit Details- dress: Old Navy, necklace: Old Navy, flats: Old Navy

Well that’s it for today’s post. I will be back soon for a Weekly Wrap Up sometime this weekend. Until then, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy holidays! I am so very thankful for you all and hope you have the best time off. Sending all my love your way. With love, McKenz.
