September Favorites

Hi friends, I can’t believe that September is already coming to an end, it feels like just yesterday I was starting Sophomore year and pulling you my bathing suits. Now I’m packing away my sandals andknee-deep in homework. This month was a huge one for styledbymckenz. Not only did I hit 1,200 Instagram followers, I hit 550 blog followers, and reached 50,000 views total on my site. I am so unbelievably grateful for all the love and support you all continue to provide me with. I love each and every one of you and couldn’t imagine my life without you.

For makeup this month I have been following one eyeshadow palette per week. I also have been posting a ‘Makeup of The Week’ every Saturday, be sure to check them out if you’re interested. My favorite palette this month was definitely Naked 3. I loved creating looks it’s this palette and got so many compliments. As far as foundation goes, I have been loving the Loreal Matte Infallible Foundation. I do my makeup at 6 in the morning and due to my crazy schedule I usually don’t get around t removing my makeup and showering until 9 pm. It has amazing lasting power and hardly budges. For lips this month I have been loving the NYX Lingerie Lipsticks and my Wet N Wild Matte Lipstick in ‘Cinnamon Spice’ for a bold, daring lip color.

As far as hair goes, I’ve been curling my hair with my ConAir 1 1/2″ curling iron like crazy this month. When the curls lose and start to fall it leaves my hair looking super voluminous and big which is how I like it.

I have also been using the Garniar Micellar Water to remove my makeup each night and it is amazing, I love it so much better than using a makeup wipe and it leaves hardly any residue behind. It’s so worth it!

For clothing, I’ve been transitioning my closet into the cooler temperatures and been loving my espadrilles this month. They look so cute with everything and are very trendy. I also really loved my overalls this month. These are just a few of my favorite outfits from this month. Check out my Weekly Wrap Up’s to see my outfits of the week from this past month.

I haven’t read too much this month, but when I get around to it I’ve been picking up ‘Milk & Honey’ which is so relatable and has the most beautiful poems in it. I highly recommend it. I’ve also been reading lots of magazines this month, whether they are a paper copy or the electronic version. I love Vogue, Cosmo, and Seventeen. As far as my Bible goes, I have read some amazing things this month. My favorites definitely being 2 Timothy 20, and Psalm 119.

I have been listening to so much music this month on my computer. A lot of it was recommended to me by Gb. I have a new obsession with The Lumineers which are absolutely amazing. Hozier is still always on repeat, Mumford & Sons are making a come back in my playlists, as well as Milky Chance who I always love to listen to when Fall rolls around.

As stressful as this school year has already proved to be, I have also been enjoying it so much. I have amazing friends that I wouldn’t trade for the world and get to do what I love every Friday at football games which is soemthing I am so thankful for. Our school is ending September 4-0!!

Well that’s a wrap for my favorites this month, I hope you all enjoyed. Thank you s much for the continuous love. Please leave any links below that you would like me to check out (pinterest, insta, blog, youtube) I would be happy to support you! If you have any requests for upcoming blog post please leave them below, I would be happy to hear them. Thank you all and have a wonderful October. With love, McKenz.

Fall Fashion: Outfits + Trends

One of the most exciting parts of Fall is seeing all the runway trends slowly making their way into wearable, everyday clothing. Walking into your favorite clothing store and seeing the racks lined with suede booties, chunky knits, and earth toned pieces is the most satisfying feeling.

Open toed booties are just one of the trends being featured on the front of every major fashion magazine at the moment. They’re perfect for the brisk mornings that aren’t quite cold enough for socks and tall boots. Button front skirts can be found in almost every clothing stores Fall line. Denim or suede, these skirts are trendy and super versatile, as they can easily be transitioned into all the seasons. Vests are another thing that were spotted all over the runways. Whether you want a puffer vest to look preppy, a leather vest to look edgy, or utility for an added layer; vests are an extremely easy way to dress up a bland outfit. Chunky cardigans are the perfect way to layer up and transition your favorite summer tanks into the Fall season. Keep one in your bag, wear it off the shoulder, or tie it around your waist if you’re looking to mix up the everyday style. Flannels have been in style for quite some time now. Throw a scarf over top or wear it open with a solid tee underneath. Pop on a statement necklace or throw on a jacket for some texture changes and something eye-catching. Lastly, accessorize! You can never go wrong with adding a choker (so 70’s), funky belt, or the half up half down style with your hair.

Here is my take on some of these Fall trends-

Outfit Details- sweater: American Eagle, flannel: Old Navy, jeans: Hollister, booties: Old Navy, watch: Kohls, bracelet: Boho Betty

Outfit Details- shirt: H&M, skirt: Kohls, flats: Old Navy, watch: Kohls

Outfit Details- dress: Forever 21, denim jacket: Kohls, choaker: Forever 21, riding boots: Kohls, watch: Kohls, bracelet: Boho Betty

Outfit Details- shirt: Old Navy, vest: thrifted/Mossimo, jeans: Hollister, socks: Target, booties: Sam Edelman, watch: Kohls

Well, that’s a wrap for my Fall outfits and style report. I hope you all enjoyed and have the best Monday. thank you for stopping by. As always, if you have any questions, comments, or requests please leave them below. Let me know which outfit was your favorite. With love, McKenz.

Fall Transition Outfits + Tips

Happy Friday everyone, Fall has offically arrived which menas it’s time to start breaking out the new wardrobe. Today I have shared with you five tips and five outfit ideas to easily transition you closet from Summer to Fall. Feel free to alter these to your states temperature or take inspiration from any of these outfits. I hope you all like this post, I hd such a good time taking the pictures with Jeanie!

add a jacket over your favorite tank

Fall seriously has the best weather, you don’t ned to bulk up with too many layers so you cane easily add a cargo ja key over your favorite tank. Mine is a solid black one as it is so versatile. I’m keeping this look trendy by pairing it with some skinny jeans and my espadrilles.

Outfit Details- tank: Old Navy, jacket: TJ Maxx, shoes: Forever 21, jeans: Hollister, watch: Kohls, bracelet: Boho Betty

pair a sweater and flats with shorts

Flow shorts don’t look to summer-y and can easily be paired with a fall colored sweater and your favorite flats. Lace ups are super in style right now and paired together so well with this outfit.

Outfit Details- sweater: Old Navy, flown shorts: TJ Maxx, shoes: Old Navy, watch: Kohls

add a flannel to a dress or romper

Keep wearing your favorite Summer dresses and romper by simply throwing over a flannel. Tie it around your waist if you get too hot or wear it off the shoulder!

Outfit Details- romper: Old Navy, flannel: Old Navy, watch: Kohls, bracelet: Boho Betty

wear your summer tops and sandals with fall toned pants

It’s still pretty hot and humid where I live so I haven’t quite put away my tanks and sandals for the year, I’m pairing them with these maroon jeans so this outfit is totally Fall appropriate. You could simply throw on a cardigan if you got chilly too.

Outfit Details- jeans: American Eagle, sandals: Pierre Dumas, tank: Old Navy, watch: Kohls, bracelet: Boho Betty

keep wearing your favorite Summer pieces!!!

You don’t have to put away your favorite Summer pieces just yet, its hot enough to show your legs so I’m keeping my overalls out still and pairing them with my Birks which were another Summer fav. I easily transitioned these into the cooler months by pairing the with a fuzzy sweater and come matching knit socks. This was by far my favorite outfit.

Outfit Details- sweater: Forever 21, overalls: Gap, socks: American Eagle, shoes: Birkenstocks

Well, that’s a wrap for today;s blog post. Which outfit was your favorite?! Let me know what blog posts/outfits you would like to see here on styledbymckenz. Thanks a ton for reading, sending you all my love and happiness. With love, McKenz. ps stay tuned for a new makeup of the week coming tmrw!!!

My Favorite Fall Lipsticks

If you’ve read any of my Makeup Of The Week’s you would know that I hardly ever wear a lip product that isn’t nude but now that Fall has arrived I’ve ben breaking out one of my favorite fall lip products. I tend to only wear the lip products that don’t require me to reapply them more than once a day which is why I selected these products.

This is the darkest lip product I own and one of my favorites. Wet N Wild has the best lip products for super cheap, at only $2 a piece. They are super matte and have an amazing formula. The only thing I would recommend when buying one of these lipsticks is to swatch it because the color on the label does’t always swatch the same.

Wet N Wild Matte Lipstick- 05 Cinnamon Spice

This is one of the few berry looking lipsticks that I have. Essence has amazing, moisturizing formula with a very even application. For only $4 from the drugstore, they are totally worth it.

Essence Lipstick- o9 Wear Berries

This is my favorite lip product ever. Unfortunately, it was a sample size from a Bare Minerals Christmas Set and they don’t sell it in full size. Regardless, the formulation, cool, and long lasting finish gives you every reason to love it.

Buxom Full On Lipstick- Brooklynn

I love lip gloss, as I never grew out of my middle school girl phase. Bare Minerals has the absolute best lip glosses, they are minty and pretty sticky which I love.

Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss- Taupe

I love this elf lipstick because it’s only $1 and is not a true red. I find that I hardly ever wear red lipstick because it intimidates me. This one has some brown undertones so I tend to reach for it more.

Elf Lipstick- Posh

Well that’s a wrap for my favorite Fall lip products, what are you loving right now? Let me know in the comments below! Thank you all so much for reading, I hope you all enjoyed. Be sure to leave me any requests, questions, or comments below! I hope you all have an amazing day. With love, McKenz.

New York Fashion Week in Review

New York Fashion Week is the most talked about event in the fashion industry. Between the styles, designers, and attenders; the amount of stuff to cover is absolutely endless. I am so jealous of all the bloggers that got to attend such  luxurious event. Unfortunately, I’m sitting on the sidelines wrapping up everything I’ve seen/heard and sharing with you my thoughts and takes on the high fashions that lined the runway last week.

First things first- the designers. Around 100 designers were selected to be in New York Fashion Week. If I’m being honest, some of them I’ve never even heard of and others are designers whose work I frequently look at and actually enjoy keeping up with. Sherri Hill, Vera Wang, and Project Runway.

Fashion Week ran from September 9th-September 14th and had shows from 9:00 am – 8:00 pm nearly everyday in New York City.

After looking through and analyzing literally thousands of pictures from the runways and the streets I have quickly realized what trends for the upcoming seasons I will be seen in, and which I wouldn’t dare wear out.

  • To begin we have the t-shirt with a dress pair dover top. Personally I’m not sure I would ever have the courage to work this type of outfit but I adore the way it looked on all of the models. It’s feminine but edgy with a hint of something new; its eye catching to say the least.
  • Monochromatic outfits seem to be everywhere, I have seen mostly black outfits but some grey and blue have been spotted. I personally love the monochrome, I think it’s daring but something the average person can easily experiment with.
  • Fringe has also been everywhere it seems like, on shoes, shirts, purses, and jackets. It’s got a boho vibe that adds texture and instantly draws attention to the area. I personally love it, but know it will be one of those trees that doesn’t last more than a year.
  • Off the shoulder tops and funky sleeves were spotted everywhere in the streets. I am personally all for the off the shoulder but some of the new sleeve designs look like they belong during the time of the Constitution.
  • Bomber jackets and fur coats. I love everything about these two trends. They are funky and fresh, out there and never boring. Two pieces I hope to have in my wardrobe in the near future.
  • The infamous choker was spotted time and time again along with fish nets (eek!). Belts above the waist and hoop earrings have been spotted as well. Accessories are being taken to a whole new level it seems like.
  • A few years ago the fashion world decided to almost fully eliminate skirts but they are back and better than ever now. It amazes me to see how many styles, textures, and fabrics are being used. the textiles paired with so many different styled tops are eye catching and look to die for. Something I can’t wait to style.
  • Blazer, trench coats, and the never-ending collars. I guess business style is back in style??!! Lots of khaki, business blue, an white being seen.
  • Ending with my favorite- the shoes. Platforms, lace ups, espadrilles, thigh high boots, chunky wedges, leather booties, peep toe boots, leather slides, and the sneakers. Shoes make or break every single look that is spotted. They have changed the game this season, every shoe is something new. Some of them I wouldn’t dare wear out in public unless I was in the city but they are exciting, interesting, and captivating. Something every designer seems to aim for when creating their line.

I obviously am no professional and did not attend NYFW. However, based on the countless pictures, articles, and videos I have seen/read/and watched I thought it would be fun to put together my thoughts on this years Fashion Week. I love this week because designers are adventurous and create pieces that somehow work there way into more realistic styles that are then later put into our local stores. Every piece of clothing has it’s story and every designer has their reasoning and this is the beauty of fashion; that’s the reason it is so captivating.

Let me know your favorite outfits and styles spotted at this years New York Fashion Week in the comments below. I hope you all enjoyed this post and have a fabulous Monday. Wishing you a stylish and successful week. With love, McKenz.

*no pictures were provided for copyright purposes, however pictures I have analyzed are from Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and NYFW.com*
