A Day In My Life (& outfits) : Birthday Edition

On Saturday I celebrated my fifteenth birthday along with my twin sister Madison. I really wanted to take you along with me on my day so I decided it would be the perfect opportunity to share with you A Day In My Life. Thank you so much to everyone who sent love my way  on my special day, I am truly blessed to have so many loving people in my life.

Half of my day was spent in a nice, put together outfit, and the other half was spent in comfy, work out clothes. Either way I was so happy to see the sun and have some 80 degree weather after what seemed like a whole month of rain.

Left Outfit Details- shirt:Nike, shorts: Nike, socks: Nike, shoes: Converse

Right Outfit Details- shirt: Forever 21, bralette: American Eagle, shorts: American Eagle, shoes: Target

Started off the day with a family Dunkin date plus Jeanie. We got our usual iced coffee, smoothie, and absurd amount of hash browns. We came home and changed into some comfy clothes before heading out to the park to play some basketball and lay in the sun. We brought the GoPro to take some random videos and the balloons to tie to the bench. We took the long walk home and than ate lunch as a family while opening presents. I’m so happy to say that I own a LongChamp!!! I got some super cute bathing suits and some Calvin’s too. Afterwards I did some tanning in the backyard with Jeanie and hung outside trying to take in as much sun as possible. After dinner, Jeanie and I decided to go back to the park where we walked and watched the sunset on out favorite rock. We than sat on the deck for the rest of the night and laughed with the rest of the family while consuming an insane amount of food.

It’s the littlest things that seem to bring me the most happiness. I’m so glad to have so many loving people in my life, I love you all forever. Thank you for making me feel special everyday. I wish you all the best week. With love, McKenz.

May Favorites

I can not believe May is coming to an end already, I have such a busy weekend ahead between my birthday, memorial day, and our schools last drama production that i decided it would be best if I uploaded my May favorites a few days in advanced.I have tried out so many new products this month and gotten a peak at some of my presents ahead of time so I have been loving so many things. Without further ado, let’s get to talking about them!

makeup: For makeup this month I’ve been reaching towards my Naked and Naked 3 Palettes the most. I love a good gold and brown smokey eye but with Summer just around the corner I’ve been leaning towards some rose gold shades for my lids as well. I have a huge love-hate relationship with blush and right now I’m loving it. My favorite blushes are from the Elf Blush Quad. It’s only three dollars and the quality and color selection is absolutely to die for! i def recommend! I also have been priming my face everyday with the Nivea Men’s Shave Balm everyday and it works wonders. It’s so worth the seven dollars and it contains so much product. I love the way my makeup holds with this! I’ve also been keeping up with my nude lips, my favorite lipstick at the moment is Number 15 from Essence which is sold at Ulta!

body care: I recently stopped using my Vanilla perfume from Bath and Body Works and switched to my beloved Pink Sunkissed. It smells like the beach but in a bottle. My skin as also been super dry with the weird weather we’ve been having so I’ve been reaching for my Cerave moisturizer daily.

fashion: Boot cut jeans are my absolute favorite thing ever right now!! I am so happy that I’ve rekindled my fifth grade obsession. I love pairing them with my Rainbow flip flops which were the best early birthday gift. (Thanks Aunt Cath!! I know you’re reading this <3) Kind of embarrassing, but these aviators are from the dollar store and I honestly love them and wear them all the time. Along with this, my friends and I seem to constantly go for the huge t shirt and “no pants” look with our high top converse. It’s comfortable and suitable for most of our weekend activities.

Bible: As for my Bible time this month I have started reading Hebrews which I adore, and have been reading some stuff here and there from Romans. I definitely recommend reading Romans 8 if you have the chance. God’s love endures forever, never forget it!!!

music: And last but not least, music!! Here’s what I’ve been listening to this month-

Home- Gabrielle Aplin, Breakeven- The Script, One dance- drake, She Will Be Loved- Maroon 5, House Party- Sam Hunt, Long Live- Taylor Swift

That’s a wrap for my May favorites! I hope you all enjoyed, if you have any questions, comments, or requests please leave them below I love talking to you all. On a side note thank you for helping me reach almost 200 followers this month, I am so thankful for everyone that reads my posts. I love you all and am sending so many smiles your way. With love, McKenz.

Finding Yourself

I Chose To Love Life

Hebrews 6:10 says “For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love you have demonstrated for his name by having served and continuing to serve the holy ones.”

As a normal teenage girl with responsibilities, a family, and a social life I have found myself feeling aimless in my own name time and time again. I am fully aware that feeling lost in place with ourselves often means feeling lost in Jesus’s name as well. A few months ago if you asked me where I stood with myself I would’ve told you that I wasn’t sure. It felt like everything in my life was temporary, that I was putting forth so much effort into everything I did and getting absolutely nothing in return. I felt lost. And then one morning I snapped out of it and realized that nobody else was going to mend myself but me. So I threw myself into action. I began to invest my time in people that invested there time in me. I joined theatre and started doing stage makeup. I dove full force into my blogging, setting record views for myself within the weeks. I started going to church on Sundays, spent time with Bible every night. I told my friends and family I loved them everyday, tried my absolute hardest not to take them for granted. I looked in the mirror and saw the good in myself rather than picking out every flaw. I shared more laughs with my best friend in one hour than I had in the last month. I put myself out there to make new friends who I’ve spent some of the best days of my life with. I chose to love life and it loved me right back. I’ve come to realize that the effort we put into life is only recognized if we believe it is. I now know that regardless of how close or far I am to God His love for me is everlasting and that my deeds do not go unnoticed by Him. I’ve learned that “The pain you’ve been feeling, can’t compare to the joy that’s coming.” -Romans 8:18

I’ve realized that God’s love endures forever. I realized that there is no weakness in forgiveness. I realized that true love is being as happy for someone else’s accomplishments as you are for your own. I realized that the world was mine and life was only as good as I chose to make it. I realized that I’ve found people that I see nothing but absolute greatness in, people I would do anything for. I realized that I love myself and I’ve created a life I couldn’t imagine any other way. And most of all I’ve realized that you have to lose yourself in order to find yourself.

I hope one day you feel a smile inching it’s way across your face for no reason as much as I do, but until then I’ll continue to tell you how I’m managing to do so. Sending so much happiness your way. With love, McKenz.

GRWM: Graduation Party (hair, makeup, and outfit)

The end of the year is quickly approaching which means that graduation season is upon us. Today I attended two of my friends graduation party so I figured this would b the perfect opportunity to show you what I wore and how I did my makeup. I hope you all enjoy this post and get some inspiration from this!

Makeup:

before and after

Starting off with a fresh, clean face I applied the Nivea After Shave Balm as a primer all over my face. I than took the Maybelline Matte Fit Me Foundation in “125” on a damp beauty blender and applied this all over to even out my complexion. I set that with the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. To conceal my under eye circles I applied the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer. I was aiming for a light, warm contour so I used the Lumene bronzer and contoured my cheek bones, temples, and nose. For a highlight I took the Covergirl Eye shadow in “French Vanilla” and applied this to the tops of my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose. For my cheeks I used Benefit’s Cha Cha Balm and the Elf Blush Quad in “Peach”.  I was so pleased with how it turned out.

To start off the eyes I applied my Urban Decay Primer Potion all over to keep my eye shadows from creasing. I than applied my Maybelline Color Tattoo in “Barely Branded” all over my lids with my fingers. This eyeshadow base makes my shadows pop and enhances the colors. I applied the color “High” from my Naked Smokey Palette all over my lid with a flat shader brush. To add definition in my crease I took the colors “Combust” and “Whiskey” with a crease brush. To define my crease entirely and shape out my eyes I took the color “Hustle” from my Naked One Palette on a defining brush and applied it into my outer v. For my eyebrows I applied a little bit of Vaseline to hold them in place and than took the color “Frisk” on an angled crease brush and filled in my eyebrows. For the lashes I used the Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes on my upper and lower lashes.

For my lips I wanted a glossy nude so I kept it super simple and minimalistic with my NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in “Sweet Heart”.  It’s more on the peach side which looked perfect with the blush I applied earlier.

Hair:

Today I was on second day natural hair which looked wild so I threw some Not Your Mothers Beach Babe Texturizing Spray into my hair and than up into a messy top knot to keep it out of my face and looking some what in control.

Outfit:

It was on the chilly side this afternoon so I opted for a light weight blouse, capris and sandals. This top is from Loft, jeans are from Hollister, sandals are from target, watch is Kate Spade, and necklace is Forever 21.

Fashion

Hot Or Not: Boot Cut Jeans (thoughts and outfit)

Boot cut jeans; you either love them or you hate them. I remember being in the fourth grade and wearing them every single day. My sister wore skinny jeans but for some reason the thought of my pants being flared at the bottom made me feel so stylish. Come middle school,  grew out of boot cut jeans and felt that they were so unhip and refused to wear them ever again. However, as I’ve gotten older I’ve come to realize that there are no rules to fashion and if I like something I should wear it, regardless of what other people think. So when I came across this pair at the Gap Outlet for only $8.oo that fit absolutely perfectly, I decided it was a sign from above that these jeans belonged in my closet.IMG_1945

I think they’re he absolute cutest things and they look perfect with a blouse and booties or a simple tank and sandals. They can easily be worn from Fall to Spring which is another awesome thing about them and they are so flattering. They hug your legs in all the right places and make them look longer.

This is how I styled them for a day at school- shirt: Old Navy, bralette: American Eagle, jeans: Gap, sandals: Pierre Dumas, bracelets: Alex and Ani, Charming Charlies, DSW, necklace: Forever 21

I Did Prom Makeup?!

Hello friends and happy Monday. I am so excited to be here and talking to you this morning. This past Friday was our schools prom. I’m a freshman so I obviously couldn’t go to prom but I did have the pleasure of getting a couple of my friends ready for their special night. I’m so thankful that I’m given opportunities like this one!

Today I’m here to share with you how I did Jenna’s makeup. Here’s the products that I used and where:
primer: Benefit Porefessionals
foundation: Bare Minerals Powder Foundation
under eye concealer: Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer
eye primer: Urban Decay Primer Potion
eye base: Maybelline Color Tattoo “barely branded”
eye shadow: Naked One; lid- “half baked” crease- “buck” “naked one”, outer v- “smog”
mascara: Maybelline The Falsies
contour: Anastasia Contour Kit
highlight: Anastasia Contour Kit “vanilla”

I kept it super simple and bronzed just like Jenna asked. She looked absolutely stunning and I’m so pleased with how it turned out. If you know me personally and ever need your makeup done let me know because I would be happy to help! Thank you so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed and have the best day today. With love, McKenz.
