3 Ways to Style Lace Up Flats (Spring Edition)

Good morning everyone. Today I decided that I would she you three ways to style lace up flats in the Spring time. These shoes are all the rage right now. I personally love them and find that they make any outfit look instantly chic and put together. My pair are from Old Navy’s Winter collection; however, I know Steve Madden and Target both have similar options. I hope you all enjoy these outfits. This outfit is perfect for brisk days. Girlfriend jeans add a distressed look while the lacy bralette keeps the outfit looking girly. I paired my lace up flats with this look and they coordinated perfectly with my necklace and black bralette.

I love my button front skirt. They are so in trend right now so I just paired it with a simple black top and my flats for a somewhat dressed up outfit.

We definitely have some bipolar weather where I live. I’m someone that hates wearing jean shorts if I’m going to be stuck in jeans the next which is why I often times opt for rompers and dresses in the spring months.

Happy Tuesday everyone. I came across this tag as I was scrolling through my YouTube subscriptions this past weekend. Although I wasn’t tagged I thought it might be fun to answer these questions. What’s the oldest item in your wardrobe?
The oldest item in my wardrobe is just an old football t-shirt.

What’s the newest item in your wardrobe?
The newest item in my wardrobe is this red tank top from Abercrombie&Fitch that my friend Ashley gave to me as a hand me down.

What is the cheapest item in your wardrobe?
I have this Old Navy tank in about six colors and purchased them for $4 each. They were some of the best purchases ever.

What is your biggest bargain?
My biggest bargain had to be these knock off Birkenstocks that I purchased at the end of summer last year from Target. They were $6 and I wear them everywhere. They’re comfy, cute, and are so easy to throw on and just head out the door.

What is the biggest waste of money?
My biggest waste of money was definitely my Uggs. I love them I just never reach for them unless I’m bumming it that day.

What is your favorite item that you got as a gift?
My favorite item that I got as a gift would definitely be my bean boots or my blue Long Champ. I wore my bean boots like crazy and they look good with everything.

What is the most comfortable item?
Scarves have to be my most comfortable item. I wear them all the time in the winter and it feels like you’re laying on a cloud.

What is the most uncomfortable item?

My tan flats from Target have to be the most uncomfortable item in my closet. They give me the worst blisters but they’re so cute that I often times just suck it up and deal with it.

Three of your favorite items right now?
My white Jack Rogers, ripped girlfriend jeans from Gap, and my white bralette from American Eagle are by far my three favorite items right now.

Something you love but everyone else hates?
I adore my lace up flats from Old Navy. I think they’re super chic and in style. However, very few of my friends feel the same way lol. I get asked if they’re comfortable at least three times every time I wear them, it surely doesn’t feel like you’re walking on clouds but they aren’t like walking on nails. :,)

Something that you’re excited to wear soon?
I’m so excited to wear shorts soon, it’s not quite warm enough but I’m so ready for eighty degree weather!

Hello and happy Sunday friends, it feels like we haven’t talked in forever. I am so sorry for only having up two blog posts this week (GRWM: Cheer Banquet and A Lookbook: White and Denim). It has been an absolutely packed week between our schools play Into The Woods and our annual cheer clinic which you will hear all about below. The weather was so nice this week so I was able to break out some of my favorite dresses and rompers. I’m too scared to break out the shorts lol. Before I go I wanted to thank you all for 460 followers on Instagram and 125 followers here on StyledByMcKenz. I’m so grateful for the love and support you all continuously provide me with. 1 Corinthians 13:7 says “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.” I love this verse so much and am trying my best to keep it in the back of my head throughout the week ahead. 4.18.16- A crazy insane week leading up to our first show of Into The Woods on Thursday!! So excited for eighty degree weather and for being able to eat lunch in the courtyard.

4.19.16- Today was our first day of cheer clinic and it was so much fun teaching the little ones. So happy to be wearing my button up skirt today!!

4.20.16- So in love with this black maxi that I was finally able to break out today. Had to take a picture with Jenna at or second day of clinic as a reminder that my dreams became reality. Freshman year on Varsity cheer was everything I could want and more.

4.21.16- Today was our first showing of Into The Woods and it was such a success. Our last day of cheer clinic and performances went perfectly. Loved living a double life tonight.

Words can not express my gratitude toward these girls. For as long as I can remember they’ve continuously provided me with love and support that never fails to leave me smiling. I hope one day that you find people that see the world in you the way these two look at me. And if and when you do, I hope you never let them go. If I could lock our friendship in place so that it could never be taken away, I would. When we’re together we don’t have a quiet button. We’re loud and crazy at heart. We make our own fun wherever we go and if you’re on the outside looking in we share a wild kind of love. Far from picture perfect. Today we put on our smiles and strove to look it.

I was really opting toward a white, denim, and gold color palette. The weather here on the East Coast is still rather bipolar so I wanted something that would be perfect for a brisk Spring day. It ended up working perfectly and we all looked unified without looking like we were having “Twin Day” for second grade spirit week. Here’s what we wore and where everything is from-

Get Ready With Me: Cheer Banquet (hair, makeup, and outfit)

Ah, seems so surreal sitting here and writing this pot. freshman year on Varsity Cheer has officially come to an end. After a very successful and heartfelt season, it was a bittersweet ending to say the least. Thankfully, we were all able to get together for one last time on Sunday night. We had an awesome dinner, received awards, and took lots of pictures. I’m so lucky to have been able to spend so much time with twenty five incredible girls, can’t thank them enough for everything they’ve done for me. With the night being one for the books I decided to do a little Get Ready With Me. These are some of my favorite posts to write so I’m very excited. Makeup: I tried to keep it mostly bronze with sharp brows and a mauve lip. The products used are as follows: Elf Mineral Face Primer, Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation in “Honey”, Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, Garnier Under Eye Concealer, Anastasia Contour Kit- under eye powder “Banana”contour “Java” highlight “Vanilla”, Urban Decay Primer Potion, Maybelline Color Tattoo “Barely Branded”, Lorac Pro Palette- lid “Light Bronze”, crease “Taupe”, Lorac Mini Palette, Vaseline, brows- Ur=ban Decay Naked Basics 2 palette “Crave” and Vaseline, Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, Maybelline Great Lash Mascara, Bare Mineral Buxom Lip Pencil.

Hair: I decided to keep it super simple like most times so I just straightened my second day hair with my CHI flat iron and left it like that. Super bland but I prefer my hair as simple as possible!

Outfit: Keeping a super classy look for tonight’s outfit. This dress is from last season and is Old Navy, my heels are Steve Madden purchased from Nordstrom Rack and my necklace is Forever 21.

Hello everyone. It feels like I haven’t sat down to write a blog post in forever. This week was so busy between theater, supporting Jeanie t her lacrosse games, and having Celia finally home for a weekend. It’s been so long since Jeanie, Celia, Madison, and i were all together and it felt so good. Life seems like it’s flying before my eyes these days but I’m happier than ever. if you have the chance and read the Bible, read Psalms 118. It was such a refreshing reminder for this past week. 4.11.16- The week before the play is so stressful! We are frantically running around trying to finish up paper macheing and painting all of our trees and sets. I’m so excited to see it all come together.

4.12.16- So excited to support Jeanie at her first home lacrosse game. We stayed after and watched the Varsity game. Not being able to feel our toes when we got home was totally worth it.

4.13.16- Got to wear my new t shirt dress to school today and to say I was excited for it would be an understatement. I got to eat with some of my girls at lunch and we decided to get a few pictures cause it’s definitely been a while.

4.14.16- So excited to wear this shirt today, I got so many compliments. I got to watch Jeanie’s lacrosse game today and take a few pictures with her before. So happy with how the sets for the play are coming!

4.15.16- Happiest when I’m wearing yellow. Today we started a new project in art class that required these super cool mirrors. Celia finally had no practice and was able to join Madison, Jeanie, and I for the volleyball game and a sleepover.

4.16.16- Went to Jeanie’s lacrosse game and she scored today!! So proud of her. Afterwards Madison took some picture of Jeanie, Celia, and I for an upcoming blog post. We hung out with the boys after and than Jeanie slept over, which is no surprise.

4.17.16- Today we had our cheer banquet. It’s so bitter sweet to see it go. Luckily, cheer season will be rolling back around in no time!

Beauty Basics: Beginners Everyday Makeup

Hi guys, it’s been quite some time since my last Beauty Basics post. That being said, today I decided to do a beginners everyday makeup routine. This look is a super fresh face and looks very natural. It’s perfect for people who are just starting out with makeup! To start off my makeup I’m taking the Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation and applying a light layer to my face with a damp beauty blender. This foundation keeps you from looking oily throughout the day and is a light/medium coverage. After I apply the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder with an Elf Powder Brush all over my face. Avoid rubbing on your powder and opt for patting it into your skin so you stay matte all day and don’t end up rubbing away the foundation you just applied. I than apply the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer under my eyes to brighten them up and keep me from looking dead. I love this concealer because it covers everything and is only $7 from the drugstore. I than am applying two coats of my Maybelline Great Lash Mascara. Don’t forget your lower lashes. I find that this mascara makes my eyes look super big and as if I spent a lot of time on my eye makeup when in reality all I did was apply mascara. Lastly, I apply the color “crave” from my Naked Basics 2 Palette on my eyebrows to reshape and define them. Never neglect your eyebrows, they change a whole look entirely. I than applied chap-stick and went on with my day.

Hot Or Not: Overalls (Thoughts and Styling)

Good morning everybody! Today I decided to start a “Hot or Not” series where I share my thoughts and opinions on certain seasonal trends and give you a couple outfit ideas. today i am styling overalls which are super popular for Spring and the upcoming Summer season. I love Overalls because they are practically an outfit in itself and can easily be dressed up or down. They are obviouly not everyones style but I like them a lot. These overalls were my moms from about ten years ago that she saved in case they ever came back into style and I wanted them. i;m so glad she did cause I love them! Here’s how I styled them:

I love this outfit because it’s casual yet so cute. I could wear this to school or any day in the summer. I paired my black Birkenstocks for a laid back vibe and they coordinate perfectly with my black and white striped shirt.

Don’t be fooled everyone, you can dress up overalls too! I paired this simple off the shoulder white top which is also super in this season with my white Jacks. I threw on some gold jewelry and ended up looking nice and put together!

Happy Sunday everyone! This past week was our first week back from Spring Break and it felt so good to see everyone again but so bad to hear my alarm going off at six in the morning. With the school play in less than three weeks, the school year quickly approaching it’s end, and supporting my best friends; time seems to be flying and my free time seems to be lessening. Wouldn’t trade it for the world though. The other day i was looking through an old journal and found the quote “Surround yourself with those who see greatness in you even when you don’t see it yourself” written down. These words really opened up my eyes and allowed me to analyze the people in my life. To all my friends and family reading this, I can’t thank you enough for everything, you guys rock my world!! 4.4.16- I have never been so happy to go back to school. Reminiscing on spring break which was fantastic but happy to be back at school and in everyone’s presence. So happy to be wearing all my new clothes too!

4.8.16- So happy that Friday came so fast. Today I got to wear my pink faced watch which is one I tend to neglect but always have loved. I also went to the lacrosse games with Jeanie and Celia, JV and Varsity both won!
