Full Face of Drugstore Makeup Tutorial

Do you ever feel like your wallet is crying after browsing what’s new in makeup on Sephora’s website for the fourth time in a week?! I seriously cannot be the only one; but  don’t worry y’all, the drugstore is full of amazing items for prices that certainly will not break the bank. Head on over to your local drugstore and start picking out a few goodies, I promise some of the things you find will be just as good as from Sephora.

To begin the look, I am as always starting with a fresh, moisturized face. I am then priming my face with the Nivea Men’s Shave Balm Primer ($6.49) to ensure that my face makeup stays in place all day.

I am then buffing the Garnier BB Cream ($9.49) in the shade ‘light medium’ into my skin with a damp beauty blender. This BB Cream acts as a tinted moisturizer and provides a light-medium coverage throughout the day. To then provide a bit more coverage, I am taking the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer ($6.99) to conceal my under-eyes and any blemishes. To keep my face from getting oily throughout the day I am setting it with the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder ($4.99).

I am then taking the Physicians Formula Bronze Booster ($7.89) and defining my cheekbones, nose, and temples. After, I am taking the peach shade from the Elf Blush Quad ($5.99) and applying this to the apples of my cheeks. To highlight the bridge of my nose, cupid’s bow, brow bone, and tips of my cheekbones I am using a champagne single shadow called ‘French Vanilla’ from Covergirl ($2.97).

To prep my lids for eyeshadow I am taking the Maybelline Color Tattoo ($6.99) in the shade ‘Barely Branded’ and applying it all over my lids with my fingers. For the eyeshadow look I am using the Wet N Wild ‘Comfort Zone’ palette ($5.00) . It is by far my favorite eyeshadow palette from the drugstore and is full of super pigmented shadows. I am first taking the warm champagne shade on the left and packing this onto my lids using a flat shader brush.

I decided to go for a green look today, as I have never tried a look like this and I ended up loving it. So for the crease shade, I am taking the light green shadow on the right and applying this directly into my crease.

For my outer v I am taking the darker green shadow on the right side of the palette. This color perfectly defined my eyes and made them pop big time.

To fill and shape my brows I am using the NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder ($5.99) on an angled brush. I am then going in with the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil ($4.49) in the shade ‘Milk’ to perfectly carve out my brows and define my brow bone.

I am then curling my lashes and applying several coats of the Maybelline Great Lash Mascara ($5.99)to my upper and lower lashes to lengthen and volumize my lashes. For the lips I am applying the NYX Lingerie Lipstick ($6.99) in the shade ‘Corset’.

Well that is it for this drugstore makeup tutorial. What do you all think of the pop of color added to this look?! I personally loved it and felt that it made my eyes pop big time! Let me know what you think of the look in the comments below along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. Wishing you the happiest Friday! With love, McKenz.

Everyday Makeup Routine

Hey, ladies! Recently, I have been getting questions on my everyday makeup routine and my go-to face makeup routine so I decided to sit down with you all today and share with you my everyday makeup routine. Obviously my eyeshadow and lip products vary from day-to-day depending on how I am feeling and/or my outfit but for the most part my makeup routine stays pretty consistent. Before I start to ramble, let’s get on into it…

Processed with VSCO with hb2 presetThis is the makeup look I will be creating for you all today!

To begin the look I am going to be priming my skin with the Nivea Men’s Shave Balm Primer. This will ensure that my makeup lasts all day and will prevent any oils from surfacing. I am then taking the Maybelline Matte Fit Me Foundation on a damp beauty blender and buffing this into my skin to create an even, flawless coverage. This foundation is perfect for all skin types and provides a medium coverage, plus it’s only $7 from the drugstore!

I am then going to be applying the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer under my eyes in a triangle shape to highlight my face and cover any vains that may be showing through my foundation. I am then setting my whole face with the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder to keep my face looking matte all day.

Then I am going a bit out-of-order and filling my brows in with the Anastasia Dip Brow in the shade ‘Blonde’.  I prefer to fill my eyebrows in before contouring and highlighting so my face looks somewhat proportional. I am then switching back to the face by taking the Lumene Bronzer and contouring my cheek bones, temples, and nose.

I am then highlighting using the tips of my cheekbones, bridge of my nose, cupids bow, inner corner, and brow bone with the shadow ‘Champagne Truffle’ from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. Don’t be afraid to use your shadows as highlighters, they tend to work the same! I am then switching back to the eyes and applying a brown Buxom eyeliner to my waterline. I love adding a light liner to my look if I am avoiding eyeshadow that day.

I am then doubling up on mascara for the day to make sure my lashes pop. I am applying two coats of the Maybelline Chaotiques Mascara to my upper lashes and then taking the Maybelline Great Lash Mascara to lengthen my lower lashes.

I am then applying the LipSense duo in the color ‘Plum Pretty’ for a gorgeous, long-lasting color. I am amazed at how long this product lasted on my lips and how well it held up as I ate, drank, and made my way through the day. Feel free to check out their products by emailing LastingLipsNY@gmail.com.

Well that is it for my everyday makeup routine, I hope you all enjoyed! What makeup do you wear on an everyday basis?! Let me know in the comments below along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. Wishing you all the best today and always. With love, McKenz.

February Empties

Hey everyone, welcome back to styledbymckenz! Last month I shared my first ever empties post of all the products I used up throughout the month and my honest opinion/review on all the products I got such positive feedback and finished so many products this month that I figured, why not do another one?! Alright, before I start to ramble let’s get on into it.

img_5688This month I finished up all of my holiday scents from Bath&Body Works that were sitting around my bathroom. I usually love all of their products around the holidays but didn’t love the scent of the lotion and felt that Vanilla Bean Noel was too strong of a scent in the wallflower form. I loved their soap and body wash as per usual.

Product: Vanilla Bean Noel Shower Gel

Repurchase: yes

Product: Tis the Season Hand Soap

Product: Marshmallow Pumpkin Latte Body Lotion

Repurchase: no

Product: Vanilla Bean Noel Wallflower
Stars: 3/5
Repurchase: Would purchase the original Vanilla instead.

IMG_5689.JPG

It’s very rare that I ever finish makeup products it seems like since I am constantly rotating the products I use. However, this month was an exception as I finished several face products and cleared out a good chunk of my stash. Almost all of these were repurchases and I was hardly disappointed by any of them. Although, the Elf primer seemed to not do as good of a job when I used it everyday consecutively so I switched it up regularly with other primers. And I do not feel the Maybelline Age Rewind deserves the amount of hype it gets, although it is very good.

Product: Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
Stars: 5/5
Repurchase: yes, already have

Product: Maybelline Matte Fit Me Foundation
Stars: 5/5
Repurchase: yes, already have

Product: Elf Mineralized Face Primer

Product: NYX HD Concealer
Stars: 4.5/5
Repurchase: yes, *lighter consistency than Maybelline Fit Me Concealer

Product: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
Stars: 4.5/5
Repurchase: yes

IMG_5687.JPGLastly,  have a couple random products. I do not typically have a deodorant preference so it doesn’t really matter to me what I use. The Dove Dry Shampoo was fairly good for the price, it is much cheaper than the Batiste dry shampoo. My only complaint would be the strong smell, however I have found that every dry shampoo has a smell that I am not too fond of.

Repurchase: yes

Product: Dove Volume Dry Shampoo
Stars: 4/5
Repurchase: yes

Well, that’s a wrap for my February empties post! I hope you all enjoyed taking a peek at my trash, lol. I love empties posts, so leave me a link to one of yours below along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. Wishing you all a very happy Monday. With love, McKenz

Makeup Of The Week- Drugstore Edition

Happy Saturday, y’all! I am back with another Makeup Of The Week and this week I challenged myself to use ONLY drugstore products. Let me tell you… it was not as easy as I intended it to be. This week I tried to get over my fear of blush (success!), learned that I hardly own any drugstore eyeshadows, and that the drugstore does not have the widest range of eyebrow products! Despite this, I was able to make it through the week creating mostly super natural, fresh-faced looks with products from the drugstore.

Also if you are looking for a good drugstore option as far as eyeshadow goes, I highly recommend the Wet N Wild ‘Comfort Zone’ eyeshadow palette. It is about $6 from the drugstore and swatches/wears beautifully. I do not wear much drugstore eyeshadow, but when I do it’s almost always Wet N Wild.

Valentine’s Day GRWM (Hair, Makeup, and Outfit Idea)

Woo only one more day until Valentine’s Day! Truth be told, I have never been a huge fan of the holiday but once I began blogging I realized how many ideas a holiday can generate. Therefore, here I am blogging about a hair, makeup, and outfit idea for Valentine’s Day. I hope you all have the best day and enjoy this post. Let’s jump right in!

Hair- I’m sure we’re all well aware that my hair is a hot, frizzy mess when it’s not styled so to begin the taming of my hair I am going to be brushing it out and then spraying the Infusium23 Heat Tamer onto my hair. This will keep the heat of my curling iron from completely damaging my ends. For today’s hair I am going to be using the Conair 1/2′ curling wand and curling my hair in opposite directions and varying the amount of hair I pull each time. This will keep the hair different and add tons of volume to my hair. Lastly I am going to be spraying my locks thoroughly with the Got 2 Be Glued Freeze Hold Hairspray. This will completely hold my curls and allow them to be worn for more than one day at a time.

Makeup- Alright y’all, moving onto the makeup I beginning by priming my lids and face as always using my beloved Nivea Men’s Shave Balm Primer and the Urban Decay Primer Potion. These products will keep my makeup from sliding throughout the day and ensure that nothing creases.

Next I am taking the Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation on a damp beauty blender and buffing this into my skin for an even coverage. I am then taking the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and mattefying my face to keep from getting oily.

Next I am going to be taking the Maybelline Color Tattoo in the shade ‘Barely Brnaded’ and applying this all over my lids. This product is going to act as a base and keep my shadows in place for hours on end. For this look I am going to be using shadows from my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. First I am applying the shade ‘Buzz’ all over my lids.

Then I am going to be taking the shade ‘Limit’ on a fluffy crease brush and applying this into my crease. I am then taking a bit of ‘Nooner’ on a tampered crease brush and applying this to my outer V to create more depth and definition to the eyes. I am then popping a bit of ‘Strange’ in my inner corner.

For the brows I am going to be filling and shaping them using the Anastasia Dip Brow and highlighting my brow bone with the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in ‘Milk’.

I am then applying a coat of the Covergirl Flamed Up Mascara. For the lips today I will be using a Stila Lip Glaze.

I am contouring my cheek bones, temples, and nose using the bronzer from the Anastasia Contour Kit and highlighting the tips of my cheekbones, bridge of my nose, cupids bow, and brow bone using the shade ‘Vanilla’ from the Anastasia Contour Kit.

I am in love with this look for the month of February!

Outfit- I am all about the fur and over the knee boots lately. For this look I am pairing a fur vest from Old Navy over a simple black sweater from Old Navy. My jeans are from Hollister and the boots I am wearing are from DSW. To add a subtle pop of pink to the outfit I am wearing a statement necklace from Charming Charlies and a bar necklace from Forever 21.

Well, what do you think of this look?! Let me know in the comments below along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me! I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine’s Day. Sending you all my love! With love, McKenz.

Valentine’s Day Makeup Tutorial//YouTube Video

Hello ladies! As I mentioned recently, YouTube videos are something I am trying to do a better job with this year in terms of uploading more. I am super excited to be bringing you one of my favorite makeup looks ever using my Naked 3 palette. This look is perfect for Valentine’s Day so hopefully you can gain some inspiration from it. FullSizeRender-8.jpgClick here to watch the video! Be sure to hit the like button if you enjoyed and subscribe if you’re interested in seeing more videos from me in the future.

To begin this makeup look I am starting by priming my face with the Nivea Men’s Shave Balm. This will keep my makeup lasting all day and prevent any creasing from my face makeup. I am also going in with the Urban Decay Primer Potion and prepping my lids for the shadows to come.

To start off with the face makeup I am taking the Covergirl True Match Foundation on a damp beauty blender and buffing this into my skin to even out my face and provide a light to medium coverage. I am then setting this with the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder to keep from getting oily as the day goes on.

I am using the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer to cover my undereye circles and any other imperfections I might have. To set that I am using the banana powder from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit.

I am then prepping my eyes with the Maybelline Color Tattoo in the shade ‘Barely Branded’. This will make my shadows last all day and stay as vibrant as when they were first applied. For the eyeshadow I will be using the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. I am first going in with the shade ‘Limit’ and applying this to my crease as a transition shade. I am then taking the Wet N Wild Glitter Single and applying a bit of this to my lids. This will keep the shade ‘Dust’ from the palette extra glittery and opaque. I am then applying the shade ‘Factory’ to my crease. To ensure a seamless transition between the shadows I am using the matte shadow ‘Nooner’ from the palette. Lastly I am mixing ‘Mugshot’ and ‘Darkside’ and applying this to my outer V and lower lash line with a tappered crease brush.

I am then using the Anastasia Dip Brow in the shade ‘Blonde’ to fill and shape my brows. To highlight my brow bone I am using the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in the shade ‘Milk’. To finish off the eyes I am using the Smashabox Full Exposure mascara on both my upper and lower lashes.

I am then contouring using the Lumene Bronzer and then highlighting using the shade ‘Vanilla’ from the Anastasia Contour Kit on the tips of my cheekbones, bridge of my nose, and cupid’s bow. I’m adding a bit of the Wet N Wild Blush in the shade ‘Pearlesecent Pink’ to tie the look together.

And lastly, I am using the Buxom Full On Lipstick in the shade ‘Rouge’ for a simple completion to the look.

I love this makeup look because it is not too dramatic. It’s soft but still glamorous and that is why I reach for it so often. I really hope you all enjoyed this video/tutorial. Be sure to leave me any questions, comments, or requests for new videos in the comments below! Have a fabulous day. With love, McKenz.

Alright y’all, last week I promised a Makeup Of The Week using the Naked Smokey palette and boy was it a challenge. January Favorites

January has come and gone in the blink of an eye meaning it’s time for another monthly favorites post. Keep reading to see what makeup products, outfits, and Bible verses I have been loving, plus everything in between.

This month I have absolutely fallen in love with street style and any clothing piece that is out there and different. I haven’t necessarily incorporated these things into my everyday wardrobe but it’s getting there! This month I experimented with lots of denim, chokers, anything velvet, and various shoes that I received for Christmas. Above are a few of my favorite outfits from this month.

IMG_4339.JPGAs far as makeup goes, I have fallen in love with matte liquid lipsticks and lip gloss. Something about lip gloss just does it for me. I have gone back to using one eyeshadow palette per week in hopes to equally use my makeup and have to say that Naked One was definitely my favorite this month. Other than that, I haven’t really come across any jaw dropping products this month.

Processed with VSCO with c4 preset

I figured I’d show you all my favorite page in my Bible from this month. It took me forever but Psalm 86 is so beautiful that it was worth it. These verses are such a reminder that Jesus has the power to save us with his love if we open up and allow him to. I highly recommend you reading these verses!

I am still watching 90210 but will most likely be finishing soon so leave me Netflix suggestions below… please. For music I have been loving the songs ‘More Than Anyone’ by Gavin DeGraw and ‘Be Yourself’ by Harrison Storm.

This month I have really wanted to be better in every way. I am trying to really step up my blogging game and slowly but surely up my Instagram game and I want to thank you all because I wouldn’t be where I am without you all. Also a huge hank you for helping me break record views this month! Stay tuned for some very exciting content coming your way in February!

IMG_4340.JPGWhat have you been loving this month. I would love to hear or read your monthly favorites post. Leave your comment or link below along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. Wishing you the best February ahead. With love, McKenz
