Winter Fashion Wrap Up

With Spring’s arrival less than two weeks away, it’s about time to start packing away my chunky sweaters and pulling out my frilly tanks instead. Where I live, this Winter was not brutal by any means in comparison to year’s prior… which was terrible. I am not one to jump up and down for Winter itself but if it’s going to be cold outside I’d rather it be snowing than cloudy and dull 24/7. Which unfortunately, it was this year.

Anyways, with warmer temps (hopefully) on their way I decided what better way to say goodbye to Winter than wrapping it up by sharing with you all my favorite pieces from the season and a few of my favorite outfits I wore this past season?! Before I keep rambling, let’s get on into it.

I typically don’t wear a coat to school because we don’t use lockers at my school and nobody wants to carry one around all day so I tend to opt for sweaters, scarves, and a lightweight jacket to keep ‘warm’ during the Winter.

This year I could not get enough of vests! They are my preferred choice of outerwear because they are not too bulky and pair perfectly with almost anything. My most worn vest was definitely this fur one from Old Navy. I also could not get enough of blanket scarves. I picked up this one from Target a couple of years back and I am still obsessed.

Like I mentioned earlier, sweaters are always a must for me! I wore this fuzzy white cardigan from Hollister/ TJ Maxx literally all the time. I also could not get enough of flannels. They are perfect styled under a sweater, over a sweater, around the waist, I could go on and on because the options are seriously endless.

I received a pair of black over the knee boots from DSW for Christmas and absolutely fell in love. They instantly glam up any outfits so they were always on repeat. I also found myself in booties 90% of the Winter. My favorite ones this season were these blue velvet ones from Old Navy’s Winter collection.

Turtle necks in every form were on repeat for me all season long. Whether it was a sweater or a tee, I without a doubt wore it multiple times.

And last but certainly not least, my beloved denim. In any way, shape, or form, I wore the heck out of it this Winter. I really experimented with this trend. My denim jacket is from Kohls and my favorite pair of jeans are from Gap. Along with these I tried skirts, frayed edges, chokers, and so on. I am beyond excited to be carrying this trend on over to the warmer months as well because I feel so comfortable and confident in my own skin whenever I am wearing denim.

here are a few outfits I put together while trying on the individual pieces

Well, what clothes did you wear this Winter on repeat?! Let me know in the comments below along with any requests you may have for me as we enter the warmer months. I am so excited for what’s to come here on styledbymckenz and cannot thank you all enough for your continuous love and support. I hope you all enjoyed this little Winter clothing montage; wishing you the absolute best. With love, McKenz.

Pinterest Outfit Recreations

I am obsessed with Pinterest and that is no secret. It’s an awesome way to connect with other bloggers, gain some inspiration, and keep all your favorite pictures in one place which is why last year I began to recreate a few of the pictures I had saved on my Pinterest account every few months. These posts challenge me to really look in my closet and get creative with my style and wardrobe. I totally recommend doing this if you are ever stuck in a clothing rut (like myself lately) or are interested in trying out some newer trends!

This was the first outfit I chose to recreate simply because I have a few denim button ups that I never seem to reach for anymore. I figured that this outfit is perfect for this time of year anyways! I still need a sweater because temperatures are around the forties but it has a spring vibe in my opinion.

sweater: Talbots, jeans: Hollister, button up: Hollister, booties: Sam&Libby

I thought this outfit was too cute. I loved the black and white paired with the chunky belt. I fished this one out of my mom’s closet and threw on a black choker as well. I didn’t have shoes that looked too similar so I’m wearing black booties in place. I never would have thought of this outfit combo if it weren’t for Pinterest which is exactly why I love doing these types of posts!

top: Hollister, jeans: Gap, shoes: Steve Madden, belt: unknown, choker: Forever 21

I’ve also been looking for more ways to style my leather jacket with light wash denim so this outfit was right up my ally. A simple white tee and some classic black booties tied this look together perfectly.

jacket: Target, tee: Old Navy, jeans: Gap, booties: TJ Maxx

If you have a Pinterst that you would like me to follow, be sure to leave your username below. I hope this gave you all some sort of inspiration! I had so much with this post and will definitely be recreating more Pinterest outfits in the future. Be sure to leave any questions, comments, or requests you may have below. Wishing you a fabulous day! With love, McKenz

Upgrade Your Outfit- Winter Edition

Hello, everyone! As almost of you know, fashion and styling are my favorite things to blog about and I love dressing for the colder months because there are so many different options, ways to layer, and fun pieces to work with so the outfit possibilities are endless. Today I’m going to be sharing a few ways on how you can spice up your everyday outfits and make the even more fabulous. Also, sorry for the indoor shots today, the weather was so crappy out so I had to make do with some pictures against my backdrop. Anyways, let’s get on into it!

sweater: TJ Maxx, necklace: Charming Charlies, watch: Kohls, jeans: Gap, socks: Kohls, booties: UGG

My first tip for you is to layer! Throw on a flannel over your basic graphic tee, pop a sweater over your flannel, or add a jacket to your favorite outfit. This is a simple way to add a variety of textures to your looks and bundle up for the chillier temperatures.

I can not stress enough how much socks change an outfit. Put on a pair that match your scarf or sweater and you instantly have an added something to your outfit.

turtle neck: Aeropostale, scarf: Old Navy, jeans: Hollister, socks: Aeropostale, booties: Old Navy

Add accessories! Hats, scarfs, and purses effortlessly alter your outfit. I always throw one of these three on if I feel as though my outfit needs a little something extra or is lacking balance. Balance is key in styling the perfect outfit!

Lastly, add some jewelery. Necklaces and bracelets instantly draw attention to a specific area wich is why I love wearing jewelry. If I had my ears pierced I would totally go for some statement earrings or classic pearls to achieve a sophisticated look.

Alex and Ani, watch: Kohls

How do you add some extra pizzazz to your everyday outfits?! Let me know in the comments below along with any questions, comments, or requests you may have. I have been loving using these tips to spice up my outfits and hope you got some inspiration from this postnas well. Have a happy Saturday! With love, McKenz.

One Sweater Four Ways

Happy Monday, y’all. As I was sifting through my closet trying to plan my outfits for this week I noticed how many times I reached for a simple black sweater to pull my looks together. And not just for one style.. dressed up or down, the ‘little black sweater’ has become more iconic in my wardrobe than the ‘little black dress’. So here I am, styling one of my favorite sweaters from Old Navy four different ways.

Look #1- All Bundled Up A simple black sweater is almost always the basis of my outfit when I plan on layering outerwear over top. Throwing on my black and white vest along with a fluffy scarf and some socks to keep me warm and stylish all the while looking super cute.

Outfit Details- sweater: Old Navy, vest: Old Navy, scarf: Steve Madden, jeans: Hollister, socks: Kohls, booties: TJ Maxx

Look #2- Comfy Cute For the days I’m running errands all over town or planning on sitting around but still want to get dressed in actual clothes,  my Yeezy look alikes and some cut out leggings for the win.

Outfit Details- sweater: Old Navy, leggings: TJ Maxx, sneakers: TJ Maxx

Look #3- Classy Girls Wear Pearls I cannot be the only girl who feels nothing short of priceless when wearing jeans and heels together. Ditching the ‘no white after Labor Day’ rule and pairing them with some simple black heels and some pearls.

Outfit Details- sweater: Old Navy, necklaces: Forever 21, jeans: Gap, heels: Steve Madden//DSW, watch: JC Penny, bracelets: Boho Betty (20% off your purchase with the code ‘styledbymckenz’) and Alex and Ani

Look #4- Business Casual Layering a simple window pane flannel under my little black sweater and adding a pop of color by adding a maroon statement necklace and some maroon booties.

Outfit Details- sweater: Old Navy, flannel: Old Navy, jeans: Hollister, necklace: Old Navy, booties: Old Navy, socks: Kohls, watch: JC Penny, bracelets: Boho Betty and Alex and Ani

Well that’s a wrap for today’s post. I am so in love with these outfits and the endless way you can style different pieces. How do you style your ‘little black sweater’? Let me know in the comments below along with any questions, comments, or requests you may have. Wishing you the best day. With love, McKenz.

Pinterest Outfit Recreations (Holiday Edition)

I can not believe tomorrow is Christmas Eve! I can hardly wait. Today I wanted to share some more Pinterest outfit recreations. I adore recreating outfits that I have saved because it allows me to search my closet and really be creative with the stuff I already own. I tried to pick a few outfits for this post that are more appropriate for the holiday season in case you are still in need of some outfit inspiration for the next few says. Alright before I keep talking too much, let’s get on into the outfits!

By the way, these outfits aren’t as similar as some of my other Pinterest outfit recreations! I apologize, but I wanted to really be creative and step out of my comfort zone a bit!

I chose this outfit to recreate because I am obsessed with velvet currently! This dress is a few years old and paired so perfectly with my favorite lace up heels.

Outfit Details- dress: Aeropostale, necklaces: Loft and Charming Charlies, heels: DSW

This is one of my favorite outfits that I have pinned recently but it was the hardest to recreate. I haven’t worn my leather jacket lately so I pulled the out for the look and paired it with this cozy grey turtle neck.

Outfit Details- jacket: Target, sweater: Old Navy, jeans: Hollister, booties: TJ Maxx, purse: Target, choker: DIY

This little black dress outfit is perfect for this time of year if you show on a jacket and a pop of color somewhere. I figured a maroon bubble necklace and a maroon lippie will completely tie this look together.

Outfit Details- dress: Old Navy, necklace: Old Navy, flats: Old Navy

Well that’s it for today’s post. I will be back soon for a Weekly Wrap Up sometime this weekend. Until then, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy holidays! I am so very thankful for you all and hope you have the best time off. Sending all my love your way. With love, McKenz.
