Makeup Of The Week- Drugstore Edition

Happy Saturday, y’all! I am back with another Makeup Of The Week and this week I challenged myself to use ONLY drugstore products. Let me tell you… it was not as easy as I intended it to be. This week I tried to get over my fear of blush (success!), learned that I hardly own any drugstore eyeshadows, and that the drugstore does not have the widest range of eyebrow products! Despite this, I was able to make it through the week creating mostly super natural, fresh-faced looks with products from the drugstore.

Also if you are looking for a good drugstore option as far as eyeshadow goes, I highly recommend the Wet N Wild ‘Comfort Zone’ eyeshadow palette. It is about $6 from the drugstore and swatches/wears beautifully. I do not wear much drugstore eyeshadow, but when I do it’s almost always Wet N Wild.

This week was certainly a challenge for me but that’s what I intended these Makeup Of The Week’s purpose to be. Let me know which look you enjoyed most in the comments below along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. What palette have you been using lately? Have a fabulous day, ladies. With love, McKenz.

Makeup Of The Week- Naked 2 Edition

Good morning, friends! As you all know, I usually post my Makeup Of The Weeks on Saturday mornings but with no school today due to Inauguration Day and not having today’s post fully ready to be uploaded (oops) I figured I might as well sit down and share this week’s Makeup Of The Week a day early. This week I used the Naked 2 palette from Urban Decay which I find is one of the hardest palettes to create a variety of looks with. Smokey Eye MOTD/Tutorial

Hello everyone! I hope you al are having a wonderful day so far; today I am here with a smokey eye makeup of the day/tutorial. I don’t often wear smokey eyes but when I do it’s often from my Naked Two palette and it’s not too harsh. As we move into the fall season and I tend to incorporate more black into my wardrobe, I find myself reaching for this eye look more and more. So, I thought, what better thing to write about today then this smokey eye?! I’m sharing with you the steps I took to achieve this look and all the makeup products I used below.

The first step to a perfect smokey eye look, is the base. Which in this case, is your face. I’m starting with the Nivea’s Mens Shave Balm and my Maybelline Matte Fit Me Foundation in ‘332’. I’m making sure to reach for a foundation that doesn’t have too many pink undertones. I feel like that face finish and the coloring of the shadows leaves me looking ghostly and unnatural which is why I’m reaching for a warmer toned foundation.

I am then setting my foundation with the Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation to keep me from getting oily throughput the day. I am also taking the Garner Under Eye Concealer to cover up any dark circles. This step is so important, as we don’t want the discoloration from under eye bags to conflict with the dark shadows.

I am then priming my lids and taking the Maybelline Color Tattoo in “Silver Strike”. This creates a nice even base that will keep my shadows from looking patchy. I am then taking the color ‘pistol’ and packing this onto my eyelids on a flat shader brush. Afterwards, on a fluffy crease brush I am taking the color ‘tease’ as a matte transition shade. For my outer V Iam darkning it up just a bit using ‘verve’. I also took a bit of ‘verve’ and dragged this onto my lower lash line. The most important thing is to blend blend blend. I am then filling in my brows with the Anastasia Dip Brow.

Finally, I am curling my lashes and applying several coats of mascara before applying a nude Rimmel by Kate lipstick. As you can tell the nude paired nicely with this look because it didn’t clash or take away from the eye look.

I tried to keep this look smokey but wearable. As you can tell I didn’t build up the colors as much as they could because I didn’t want the look to become too harsh. I really hoped you all enjoyed this simple smokey eye MOTD/tutorial. If you have any questions, comments, or requests please leave them below. Thank you all so much for reading. I hope you all have a fabulous day. With love, McKenz.
