Trusting God’s Plan

I know that many of you are probably going through some stuff right now, and that sometimes makes it hard to put your faith in the Lord’s hands. Trusting God’s plan is something scary, so today I decided to round up ten Bible verses that really speak to me and help remind me that there IS a light at the end of the tunnel. I hope you guys enjoy these verses as much as me. Remember that God’s love for you is absolutely endless and His path for you is greater than anything you could plan yourself. Wishing you all the best today and all the days to come. With love, McKenz.

Isaiah 60:22- When the time is right, I, the Lord will make it happen.

Isaiah 49:23- She who trusts in the Lord, will never be disappointed.

Psalm 56:3- When I am afraid, I will trust in you.

Psalm 37:4- Delight yourself in the lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 118:6- I will not be afraid, because the Lord is with me.

Proverbs 4:13- Take hold of my instructions; don’t let them go. Guard them, for they are the key to my life.

2 Corinthians 12:10- When you’ve done everything you can do, that’s when God will step in and do what you can’t do.

John 13:7-  Jesus replied, “You don’t understand what I’m doing now, but someday you will.

Proverbs 3:5- Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and He will make your paths straight.

Philippians 4:4-7- Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

God’s Everlasting Love

Hello friends, ever since my new Bible came in the mail a few weeks ago, i have been reading like crazy! It’s gorgeous and leaves me a few inches of space on the sides to journal and write down my thoughts on the verses I read throughout the night. I purchased mine from Amazon so definitely check there if you’re looking into buying one.

One of my absolute favorite chapters is 1 Corinthians 13, as I find that the words of it are absolutely breathtaking. It says “If I have all faiths as to move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give away everything I own, and if I hand my body over so that I may boast but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not get jealous, it is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.”

These words speak to me so loudly, for it is a reminder that the Lord’s love is forever and we should seek his qualities in the people we surround ourselves with. “It bears all things, believes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.” One of my dearest friends Jeanie always says “if love fails, it wasn’t really love” and as I read these verses from Corinthians it dawns on me that she is right. Love rejoices in the truth. I’ve learned that if you love life, it will love you right back and if you seek God’s everlasting love, you will have the power to love.

Let me know what you’ve been reading lately, I would love to chat about it! thank you so much for stopping by and reading. Never forget YOU are loved; wishing you the best today and all the ones to come. With love, McKenz.

I Finished Psalms!

Hello friends!!! This week I had the pleasure of finishing Psalms. If you’ve been around for a while or know me personally, you would know that I’ve read a little bit of Psalms every night since January 1st. It’s the only book I have ever truly finished from my Bible but I am more than pleased that Psalms was my first. I think that there is so much to learn from every verse in Psalms. It has truly opened up my eyes to trusting the Lord, finding peace with old friends, finding courage in myself, and remembering that God’s love endures forever. If you are new to reading the Bible, please read Psalms because it is absolutely breathtaking the way it has impacted me and turned my world upside down. My next goal is to finish Proverbs and start either Hebrews or Matthew. If you’re a Christian let me know what you prefer. That’s it for today’s super simple post. I hope you feel all of God’s glory upon you today and all the days ahead. With tons of love and a very happy heart, McKenz.

Psalm 150:3 “Let everything that has breath give praise to the Lord.”

Faith Update//What I’ve Been Reading

Happy Wednesday everyone. It’s been quite some time since I last sat down and wrote a Faith Update. It’s actually kind of strange since my relationship with God right now feels stronger than it ever has before. My heart has felt so full and the more I have turned to God and put my trust in Him, the happier I have been. I’ve surrounded myself with people that have close relationships with God and been devoting so much time to just siting down and reading my Bible; to write down my thoughts on what I’ve read and just really feel like I’m letting God know what’s going on in my life. If you ever have the chance, please listen to “I Surrender” and “Oceans” by Hillsong. I absolutely love listening to them while I have Bible time at night and I promise you won’t regret it. Here are some verses that I’ve recently read and have really stood out to me, I know there’s a lot but I’ve been trying to keep an open mind when reading!

“The Lord answered me when I called and my distressed, Lord deliver me from line lips, from treacherous tongues.”
“Too long and I love among those who hated peace when I spoke of peace they were of war.”
“You stretch out your hand, you’re right you can save me. The Lord is with me to the end. Lord, your love endures forever.”
“Lord, I call to you, come quickly to help me, listen to my plea when I called.”

“One man pretends to be rich, yet has nothing, another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.”
“Walk with wise men and you will become wise, but the companion of fools will be bear badly.”
“Listen for God’s voice in everything you do and wherever you go, he is the one that will keep you on track.”

“This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his masters doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my father.”

1 Corinthians-

“If I have all faith so as to move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give away everything I own, and I had my body over so that I may boast but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, it is not pompous, it is not insulated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.”

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

I started Psalms at the beginning of the year and I never fail to find something good from it. I feel like I gain so much knowledge while reading even from the smallest verses. It has completely opened up my eyes to the world around me and allowed me to feel confident when putting my trust in God. Proverbs is so full of short, meaningful verses that always hit home. The amount of wisdom that Proverbs emits astonishes me. I’m so happy that I started reading it in March. Along with those, I’ve been reading some small verses here and there. I absolutely love these few from Corinthians, John, and Joshua.
It seems as if the words I am choosing to read lately all categorize under wisdom, love, trust, and courage. And if I’m being honest I feel like I am thriving not only in life right now but in all four of those aspects more than ever. I have put my trust in the Lord and I have watched with my own eyes as He has completely flipped my world upside down and allowed me to understand things I would have never dreamed of before. Not only have I felt better with my relationship with God, but with myself as well. I have thrown myself in action, strove to better myself in every way I can and it feels like I’m succeeding.
I can only hope one day you surround yourself with people that radiate as much love and happiness as the people in my life do. I can only hope that you see the world in people like I do. I can only hope you strengthen your relationship with the Lord. And most of all I can only hope you realize that the second you choose to love life, it’ll love you right back.
Wishing you the best this week. With love, McKenz.

The Best Days With You

I can’t seem to put my thoughts into words but the overwhelming amount of happiness you guys bring me is enough to make me sit here and try.  The happiest days I’ve spent are with you. Can’t even begin to thank you all for the smiles you bring me even when you’re not with me. You guys make my life feel full. I tried to capture the essence of these moments together, but it’ll never be the same.

2:00 PM- Hiking up the Mountain to see the view. Not sure our little adventure would have been as fun if it wasn’t for the porta-potties, rainy trip down, Jeanie and I taking fake pics with Tyler, and not being able to find the car. Shoutout to you GB for capturing these moments of us all together, wouldn’t want these days to be any other way.

4:30 PM- By far my favorite picture of the day is the one of me and Garrett on the left. I can feel how genuine my smile was just by looking at that picture. Btw thanks for matching with me Madison, you’ll always rock my world. Sorry Colby, you didn’t make the cut in our squad basketball pic. You’ll get ’em next time.

8:00 PM- Dinner time in the Morgan Household consists of frozen Eggo Waffles and three different prayers before eating  (courtsey of Jeanie, Cedric, and myself.). So happy Tyler joined us at nine because everything’s funnier when he’s around. Wouldn’t be a normal day without an eyebrow picture so Tyler and Madison joined in. Thanks for checking my blog Instagram with me Dustin. And don’t worry GB we missed you and wished you could’ve joined us tonight. We never did catch the final score of the basketball game we were watching but that’s okay because our day together went down in history, not the game.

Laughing so hard your stomach aches. Spitting out jokes so fast your breath starts to shorten. Tearing up because the width of your smile doesn’t seem to lessen. If I could bottle up these feelings to keep them forever I would, but I guess that’s what memories are for. I’ve always said ‘life’s too short to be anything but happy’ and somehow you all have showed me what this means in its entirety. You all have given me so much to be thankful for, so much to love, and so may reasons to be happy. I feel like I’m making the memories I’ll think of as I’m driving home from a stressful day at work with my kids in the back seats rambling about their days as I smile off in the distance thinking of the times I once wished would last forever, and hoping you all are doing well. I don’t know what the future holds, but I hope you guys never leave it. With a whole lot of love, McKenz.

Faith Update: Psalms

Hi guys, it’s been a few weeks since my last faith journey post so I figured I would do a little update and share with you some recent passages that have really spoken to me and a few pages from my bible that I made super cute with just a pen and colored pencils! Yesterday was Ash Wednesday which marked the first day of Lent. I’m making sure to spend a minimum of twenty minutes with my Bible and talking with Jesus everyday. I hope some of you can relate to my thoughts below, thank you for reading! With love, McKenz.

Psalm 32:15 “But I trust in you Lord.” I found that I love this passage most because it’s sole focus is on putting our trust in God and allowing Him to take the lead despite the confusion and uncertainty we might have. We must allow faith to lead our way and be convinced that it will lead us to better things.

Psalms 32:10 “Love surrounds those who trust in the Lord.” This is by far my favorite Psalms passage that I have read so far. Something is so comforting about knowing that God’s love is always within us if we trust in him. Like I said, passages that have to do with tryst seem to be the ones I’m always highlighting and underlining.IMG_7687.JPG

Psalm 26:1 “In the Lord I have trusted.” We are always in Gods hands and he is leading us to bigger and better things and it is better to walk in blind with Jesus and than walk in sighted without Jesus by our side.IMG_7686.JPGPsalms 30:2 “You raised me up.” God has sent obstacles in our path but he has always done these things to benefit us in the long run.

Self Love

I’ve been sitting here for half an hour now trying to put my thoughts into words but it’s a lot easier said than done. Over the last few months I’ve realized that self love is more than essential. I began to notice that I invested all my time in others that I never took the time to invest in myself. I decided that I needed to learn more about myself, spend time with myself everyday. I began to accept myself as well. Every last imperfection.

I like to read, so I make sure to read for at least a few minutes everyday before I go to bed. I have a “Q&A A Day” book. Every day for three years I get asked the same question and it’s fun. I enjoy looking back and seeing how oblivious I was to the world around me the previous year. I write in a journal every single day. Whether it’s about my day or if it’s about my upcoming blog posts. I enjoy writing down my thoughts, letting out my stress, and reflecting on life it’s self. It really is so, so good if you let it be and find the beauty in the world around you. I dress up and wear makeup to school because I like to and it makes me feel confident and good about myself. Although, that’s not to say I don’t feel that way if I’m in pajama pants and a naked face. I like drinking smoothies and eating trail mix. I also like drinking milkshakes and stuffing my face with french fries.

My point is to love yourself regardless of what everyone else thinks. If it makes you happy, do it. Your life is yours and yours alone so go out and make memories, make yourself smile, make others smile, and love every inch of yourself no matter how hard it is or how long it takes. The only person you’re guaranteed in life is yourself. Might as well use that to your advantage.

My Faith Journey

Maryland has an inch of snow and icy conditions which was enough for the county to declare a two hour delay. Luckily, I don’t have a seventh period exam which means that I don’t have to go to school today. So I’m currently sitting on the couch procrastinating about when I should start getting ready to cheer at the basketball game this afternoon. Today I’m here on the blog talking about my faith journey. I feel that it is nobody’s place to judge someone on their relationship with God. If someone decides that it’s in their best interest to start talking with Jesus and allowing Him into their life that is their choice and their own business. After all, I’ve followed this myself. Turning to God was my choice, something I wanted to do, and I’m happy with my decision.

I grew up as a Catholic and was confirmed in September of last year. Getting confirmed completely opened up my eyes to all that God has done for me. I’ve never been the most faithful person, I haven’t always prayed every night, or read my  Bible before bed. But, there’s never a wrong time to start. So I started. I made changes, I began to pray daily, I began to ask God for his help, and thank him for what He’s already given me. I started to read my Bible every day and speak to Jesus when I felt I needed to. I finally realized that putting my trust in Him was the greatest realization of them all because.

I’m not perfect. I make mistakes. I mess up, a lot. In God’s name all of that is okay, this is all just a part of the journey God is taking us on. One of my major goals in the New Year was to spend more time with Jesus. I’ve made baby steps. I’ve also realized that baby steps are better than no steps.

I’ve started to read my Bible every night. I started the year off with Psalms because I’ve found that it’s very relateable and it speaks to me in a way that allows me to open up my eyes to God’s world. I underline, highlight, doodle, and make notes in my Bible. It’s mine so I’ve made it my own. I like to use colored pencils, pens, and highlighters. Here are some pictures of what my Bible looks like.

Psalm 19:20 “He set me free in the open; he rescued me because he loves me.” Psalm 19:21-23 “The Lord acknowledged my righteousness, rewarded my clean hands. For I kept the ways of the Lord; I was not disloyal to my God. His laws were all before me.” Psalm 19: 29-31 ” You Lord, give light to my lamp; my God brightens the darkness about me… With  my god I can leap a wall.” Psalm 16: 1-3 “I say to the Lord, you are my lord, you are my only good.”

Feel free to take a look at the pictures above and read my side notes. I like to scribble down my thoughts on the verses I’ve just read. I’ve learned that I am God’s and I need to trust him if I want to succeed under his name. By absolutely no means am I an expert on faith but I am making tiny changes in my life and allowing Jesus to influence me. I hope this has inspired you to know that there is never a wrong time to start your journey with faith. God is waiting for you and he’s welcoming you with open arms. Happy Thursday everyone. With love, McKenz.
