Early Winter Fashion: Outfits + Trends

The beloved Fall season is making its way to an end, leaving stores fun of discounted pieces from the previous season and magazines chock-full of new style inspiration and clothing pieces headed our way in the coming months.

The first trend spotted all over during New York Fashion Week that has slowly found its way into stores is patch work denim! Whether it’s on jeans or jackets it is definitely a trend that is bold and out there. The piece can instantly transform an outfit and is an easy way to add a funky and original touch. Jackets of all sorts were very popular amongst stores Fall clothing lines. The main piece that has been noticed still topping models and being sold in our everyday stores are bomber jackets. With a wide range of color, length, and style you are sure to find one that is perfect for you. Denim in general is huge yet again this season. Distressed, patched, and flare jeans have been seen everywhere. Along with this denim trend I have seen quite a few denim skirts form then Summer months being transferred into these colder months. Turtle necks seem to be sticking around and are put of the huge craze over 80’s and 90’s fashion. Eras in general seem to be sticking around too; the fashion world and designers can not stop eating up the idea of turning old into new! Hey, I’m all for it! As far as accessorizing goes, fringe anything, chokers, and capes have been featured in every recent magazine spread.

Check out my take on these early Winter trends!-

November Favorites

Just like every other blogger and person on the planet, I am feeling awfully overwhelmed yet not surprised that December is rolling right around the corner. Life just doesn’t want to slow down but I can’t say I’m too bummed about December being here because that means holiday movies, cute decorations, the smell of the Christmas tree, and all things festive. And come on, who doesn’t love this time of year?! With the end of a month brings a monthly favorites post, as per usual.

For makeup this month I have been into all things lip related. I think it’s because literally every inch of my body is suffering from dryness and I like to keep my lips the most moisturized. I have been using the Eos in Strawberry almost daily to hydrate my lips; it’s my favorite other than the Sweet Mint from this brand. I also use my Lush Lip Scrub about once a week to exfoliate my lips and remove any gross flakes and dead skin from the surface. During school days I still find myself reaching towards the NYX Lingerie lipsticks. They just wear so nicely that I can’t get enough of them.

It’s also officially bootie season which makes me so happy. I have been wearing my black Steve Madden booties and these brown Chelsea UGG’s. They are just too cute and pair so nicely with all of my outfits.

I usually pick my top three favorite outfits from the month so here they are. Outfit #1- sweater: Old Navy, jeans: Hollister, socks: Kohls, booties: UGG, necklace: Loft; Outfit #2- jacket: TJ Maxx, jeans: Hollister, tee: Gap, sneakers: Nike; Outfit #3- flannel: Old Navy, tee: H&M, jeans: Gap, shoes: Converse. I forgot to mention that I have also been loving the athleisure look. Don’t forget that I post an outfit of the week every Sunday in my “Weekly Wrap Up” section.

I have also finished three books this month. I find myself having quite a bit of free time these days now that I don’t have cheer practice every single day for three hours and am only cheering at games a few times a week. I read The Perks Of Being a Wallflower, a book about five friends and their love for clothes that I just can’t think of the name for, and Until Friday Night which was absolutely incredible. It’s a high school love story with football incorporated, such a good read.

I also sadly finished One Tree Hill this month. If you have been around for quite some time you would know I have been head over heels in love with this show since I started it in June. I am so sad that I finished but so happy to have known the ending. Definitely a Netflix must! I have now started 90210 but haven’t gotten super into it yet.

Well that is it for now; I hope you have had a fabulous November ladies. I would love to receive some holiday post requests and ideas for the upcoming weeks. If you have any questions or comments please don’t hesitate to leave them below. Leave the link to your November Favorites below… I am more than happy to read it! Sending you all my love. October Favorites

Seriously how is October already coming to an end… it just started like a day ago?! However, the end of the month gives me an excuse to share my current favorites with you all which I enjoy, so I’m not too disappointed. Plus there’s Thanksgiving and Black Friday to look forward to in November!

For clothes this month I have been loving my olive-green hat from Old Navy and my nude lace up heels from DSW. They are so chic, I wish I had more excuses to wear them. I also have really been loving my maroon booties from Old Navy this month.

For makeup, I have been wearing my NYX Lingerie lipsticks like crazy. You definitely need to check them out if you haven’t already, they are seriously the best!I also really loved using my Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette this month. They have some of the best shadows.

I cut my hair the month into a lob and am in love with it. I have been blowdrying it and then curling it in big loose curls which are my obsession right now.

These were a few of my favorite outfit this month, if you want to see my outfits of the week, be sure to read Weekly Wrap Ups every Sunday on the blog! It’s been fairly warm this October, mostly dipping into the sixties which allows for legs to be uncovered once in a while. I really haven’t been able to break out the riding boots yet, but hopefully soon!

As far as music goes, I have been LOVING Calum Scott, Vance Joy, and The paper Kites. Seriously the best music to cozy up in bed too. I have been reading The Perks Of Being A Wallpaper again and am really enjoying it. For my Bible, I haven been really enjoying reading random scriptures. Flipping open to a random page and reading that has been my go to tactic recently.

Well that’s pretty much all of the favorites I can think of at the moment. I have lots of exciting stuff planned for November so be sure to stay tuned for my upcoming posts. Thank you all for the continuous love and support; I am so thankful for all of you! If you have any questions, comments, or requests please leave them below! The Fall Tag

Hello everyone, I thought today it might be fun to answer some questions fro t he Fall tag that I have seen going around YouTube and WordPress. I love meeting new bloggers and reading everyone’s answers so stay tuned to see if you’re one of the five bloggers I nominate to answer these questions!

1. Fav Thing About Fall? By far my favorite thing about Fall is the household decorations and the fashion. Both are so cute and fun!
2. Fav Fall/Halloween Movies I love Halloweentown, it’s by far my favorite Halloween Movie, Forrest Gump is definitely a good one to watch around this time of year too.
3. Fashion Trend You’re Loving For Fall I am loving the velvet trend and over the knee boots, I totally want to purchase a pair. I also am loving the bomber jackets so much that I’ve already boughten one for myself.
4. Fav Fall Drink Salted Carmel Mocha Frap from Starbucks or a Salted Carmel Hot Chocolate from Dunkin.
5. What is fall weather like where you live? It’s usually about 40 in the morning and 55-60 around three in the afternoon here. We don’t get too much rain and we definitely experience all four seasons.
6. Apple picking or hayride? By far a hay ride, they are so fun and festive!
7. Rain or fog? Rain, cause that gives me an excuse to break out my Hunter’s.
8. Hocus Pocus or Halloweentown? Halloweentown for the win!
9. Corn Maze or Haunted House? Although I’m not a huge fan of all things scary, I think a haunted house is way more fun than a corn maze.
10. Halloween or Thanksgiving? Hmmm this is so hard. I love Halloween because I get to dress up, take corny pictures, and get candy but thanksgiving is so festive and family oriented. I’m not sure I can pick.
11. Coats or Oversized Sweaters Coats; whether its utility, leather, bomber, or denim I love layering with jackets!

Day In My Life- Pumpkin Patch Style

Madison and I have been begging our mom to let us go pick pumpkins for weeks now. With no school today and Grammy in town, the odds of us heading to the pumpkin patch today were pretty high. If you know anything about me, you would know that I love to actually get up and do something rather than sit around the house and procrastinate. So, this morning after we woke up and got all dolled up for our little adventure.

I knew I wanted to wear my Bean boots so I quickly was able to put together something by working off of them. I figured a funnel, scar, and matching socks was the perfect way to go for our outing.

Outfit Details- flannel: Old Navy, scarf: Old Navy, jeans: Hollister, boots: DSW, socks: Kohls, purse: Long Champ size Large in ‘Navy’

Madison wasn’t too sure what to wear so I let her grab a few things from my closet to pair together. Her scarf is from Old Navy, jeans and sweater are both from Hollister, my Hunters are in the color ‘Hunter Green’ and the socks are form Hunter as well.

My gorgeous mom who’s always behind the camera for me these days let me snap a few shots of her today. Her vest is from Gap and her sweater is from TJ Maxx. Isn’t she cute?!

After our time spent pumpkin picking we headed out to get some lunch and then to TJ Maxx and Home Goods for a little bit of post picking shopping. I found the cutest new shoes and a cozy new cape that will hopefully be styled very soon up here on styledbymckenz.

Well, that’s it for today’s post. I hope you all enjoyed this little day in my life. I would love to get some feedback on this post as to whether or not you all liked this post so I know whether or not to do more of them! Fall is the cutest time of year and I am so happy to be sharing it with you guys! Have a fabulous rest of the week. With love, McKenz.

September Favorites

Hi friends, I can’t believe that September is already coming to an end, it feels like just yesterday I was starting Sophomore year and pulling you my bathing suits. Now I’m packing away my sandals andknee-deep in homework. This month was a huge one for styledbymckenz. Not only did I hit 1,200 Instagram followers, I hit 550 blog followers, and reached 50,000 views total on my site. I am so unbelievably grateful for all the love and support you all continue to provide me with. I love each and every one of you and couldn’t imagine my life without you.

For makeup this month I have been following one eyeshadow palette per week. I also have been posting a ‘Makeup of The Week’ every Saturday, be sure to check them out if you’re interested. My favorite palette this month was definitely Naked 3. I loved creating looks it’s this palette and got so many compliments. As far as foundation goes, I have been loving the Loreal Matte Infallible Foundation. I do my makeup at 6 in the morning and due to my crazy schedule I usually don’t get around t removing my makeup and showering until 9 pm. It has amazing lasting power and hardly budges. For lips this month I have been loving the NYX Lingerie Lipsticks and my Wet N Wild Matte Lipstick in ‘Cinnamon Spice’ for a bold, daring lip color.

As far as hair goes, I’ve been curling my hair with my ConAir 1 1/2″ curling iron like crazy this month. When the curls lose and start to fall it leaves my hair looking super voluminous and big which is how I like it.

I have also been using the Garniar Micellar Water to remove my makeup each night and it is amazing, I love it so much better than using a makeup wipe and it leaves hardly any residue behind. It’s so worth it!

For clothing, I’ve been transitioning my closet into the cooler temperatures and been loving my espadrilles this month. They look so cute with everything and are very trendy. I also really loved my overalls this month. These are just a few of my favorite outfits from this month. Check out my Weekly Wrap Up’s to see my outfits of the week from this past month.

I haven’t read too much this month, but when I get around to it I’ve been picking up ‘Milk & Honey’ which is so relatable and has the most beautiful poems in it. I highly recommend it. I’ve also been reading lots of magazines this month, whether they are a paper copy or the electronic version. I love Vogue, Cosmo, and Seventeen. As far as my Bible goes, I have read some amazing things this month. My favorites definitely being 2 Timothy 20, and Psalm 119.

I have been listening to so much music this month on my computer. A lot of it was recommended to me by Gb. I have a new obsession with The Lumineers which are absolutely amazing. Hozier is still always on repeat, Mumford & Sons are making a come back in my playlists, as well as Milky Chance who I always love to listen to when Fall rolls around.

As stressful as this school year has already proved to be, I have also been enjoying it so much. I have amazing friends that I wouldn’t trade for the world and get to do what I love every Friday at football games which is soemthing I am so thankful for. Our school is ending September 4-0!!

Well that’s a wrap for my favorites this month, I hope you all enjoyed. Thank you s much for the continuous love. Please leave any links below that you would like me to check out (pinterest, insta, blog, youtube) I would be happy to support you! If you have any requests for upcoming blog post please leave them below, I would be happy to hear them. Thank you all and have a wonderful October. With love, McKenz.

Fall Fashion: Outfits + Trends

One of the most exciting parts of Fall is seeing all the runway trends slowly making their way into wearable, everyday clothing. Walking into your favorite clothing store and seeing the racks lined with suede booties, chunky knits, and earth toned pieces is the most satisfying feeling.

Open toed booties are just one of the trends being featured on the front of every major fashion magazine at the moment. They’re perfect for the brisk mornings that aren’t quite cold enough for socks and tall boots. Button front skirts can be found in almost every clothing stores Fall line. Denim or suede, these skirts are trendy and super versatile, as they can easily be transitioned into all the seasons. Vests are another thing that were spotted all over the runways. Whether you want a puffer vest to look preppy, a leather vest to look edgy, or utility for an added layer; vests are an extremely easy way to dress up a bland outfit. Chunky cardigans are the perfect way to layer up and transition your favorite summer tanks into the Fall season. Keep one in your bag, wear it off the shoulder, or tie it around your waist if you’re looking to mix up the everyday style. Flannels have been in style for quite some time now. Throw a scarf over top or wear it open with a solid tee underneath. Pop on a statement necklace or throw on a jacket for some texture changes and something eye-catching. Lastly, accessorize! You can never go wrong with adding a choker (so 70’s), funky belt, or the half up half down style with your hair.

Here is my take on some of these Fall trends-

Outfit Details- sweater: American Eagle, flannel: Old Navy, jeans: Hollister, booties: Old Navy, watch: Kohls, bracelet: Boho Betty

Outfit Details- shirt: H&M, skirt: Kohls, flats: Old Navy, watch: Kohls

Outfit Details- dress: Forever 21, denim jacket: Kohls, choaker: Forever 21, riding boots: Kohls, watch: Kohls, bracelet: Boho Betty

Outfit Details- shirt: Old Navy, vest: thrifted/Mossimo, jeans: Hollister, socks: Target, booties: Sam Edelman, watch: Kohls

Well, that’s a wrap for my Fall outfits and style report. I hope you all enjoyed and have the best Monday. thank you for stopping by. As always, if you have any questions, comments, or requests please leave them below. Let me know which outfit was your favorite. With love, McKenz.
