What I Got For Christmas 2016

Yes, I am aware that this post is well over due by now but I have been soaking up every minute of my Winter break as possible and was busy enjoying all of my time in New York with my family. However, I love seeing what everyone got for Christmas so I figured this post was better late than never! For the last few years my sister and I always seem to be asking for clothes, shoes, makeup, anything of that sort because frankly I am not in the toy age anymore and these are the things I truly enjoy receiving. Before I begin I would like to say a few things. First off, Merry late Christmas to you all and a Happy New Year. Secondly, my family is very big with lots of aunts and uncles and I am very fortunate to have gotten such nice gifts from everyone. No, I am not trying to brag in any way, shape, or form.

From my parents I received lots of clothing, a few pairs of shoes and of course some stocking goodies from Santa. These things included little makeup sets, hair care products, Polaroid film, notebooks, little nick knacks like that.

A few sweaters from Old Navy and a flannel from Old Navy.

Some jeans from Gap, nobody in the fam is a fan of the light wash pair but I’m obsessed.

Some booties and the white Vans I have been eyeing for ages.

An Old Navy Vest and my beloved Kendra Scott necklace.

From both sets of grandparents I was given some shoes and clothes that I picked out around Black Friday. Old Navy always has the best deals around this time of year so I was able to get my bang for the buck.

Black over the knee boots from DSW; I’m in love. Some Sanuk shoes that everyone here wears (get kids for a much cheaper price!!). And these tan booties from Old Navy.

A green sweater and the cutest flannel ever.

From all the aunts and uncles… more clothes that I have been eyeing.

My favorite pair of shoes… ever. Blue velvet, it seriously doesn’t get better. Thank you Old Navy. And a few Old Navy tanks.

A couple Old Navy turtle necks and my beloved faux fur vest from Old Navy as well.

I am so thankful for my amazing parents and family! I can no wait to style all of my new pieces, reorganize my closet, and head back to school in style.

What was your favorite Christmas gift?! Let me know in the comments below along with any questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. Wishing you well this year and all the days after. Talk soon! With love, McKenz.

Holiday Makeup Tutorial- A Collab With Sophiemaie

Good morning, ladies! It is very rare that I ever blog on a Tuesday but I made a special exception when my dear blogging friend Sophie from sophiemaie asked me if I was up for posting a collab. Of course my answer was yes, as I am delighted to be working together on such  fun post. We love the holidays and of course all the festive makeup looks that come with the month. We are both going to be sharing holiday makeup looks so you are sure to get some inso for your next holiday party!

Although my skin is by no means bad, as you can tell, it is quite pale compared to the rest of my body and rather uneven. Therefore, I will be applying face makeup today to make the overall appearance of my look put together, and fresh.

To begin I am applying the Nivea Men’s Shave Balm all over my face to prepare my skin for the following products being applied. This product is sure to keep your makeup on for hours on end and smells so good!

I am then applying the Maybelline Matte Fit Me Foundation all over my face using a beauty blender. As you can tell this step alone completely transforms my face now that my whole skin tone is evened out. Afterwards, I am buffing the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder onto my face to keep my face matte all evening. This powder is the best and is under $5 at the drugstore.

Then, to cover my under eye circles I am using the NYX HD Concealer (perfect dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Skin) . To set my under eyes I am applying the banana powder from my Anastasia Contour Kit. This will keep the concealer from creasing and brighten up that general area.

I am then contouring the hollows of my cheeks, my temples, and the sides of my nose to slim down the overall shape of my face and define my features a bit more. I am then highlighting the bridge of my nose and my cheekbones. I used the Anastasia Contour Kit for both of these steps- this palette is such a good investment!

In order to prep my lids for eyeshadow and ensure that my shadows don’t crease and keep a flawless appearance all night I am applying the Urban Decay Primer potion and the Maybelline Color Tattoo in “Barely Branded”.

I am then using the colors ‘snakebite’ and ‘bootycall’ from the Naked 2 Palette along with a few matte brown shadows from my Naked Basics 2 palette and creating a monotone look that will not draw too much attention to the eyes.

I am then filling and shaping my brows with the Anastasia Dip Brow. After, I am going in with the Maybelline Great Lash Mascara and fully coating my lashes. These two steps alone will instantly transform the face and make your eyes look much more awake!

Processed with VSCO with a5 presetI am then applying one of my favorite red lipsticks from Essence. Any red lipstick will do and will make this look so festive and perfect or this time of year.

Here are a few pictures from the final look. I hope you all enjoyed this simple, festive makeup look and were able to take some inspiration from this. Don’t forget to check out Sophie’s blog post here; she’s doing Blogmas on her page so you are sure to find some cute holiday themed posts! As always, if you have any questions, comments, or requests please leave them below. Have a great day, ladies! With love, McKenz

Holiday Outfit Ideas

Happy holidays, ladies! I can’t believe that Christmas is less than a week away. I still need to wrap a few gifts, watch a few more Christmas movies, and most importantly.. pick out my outfit for Christmas Eve. I decided to put together a few outfits to share with you all in case you too are having trouble deciding on the perfect outfit for an upcoming holiday party, outing, or dinner with the family!

This first outfit is the dressiest of them all. I paired this silk black shift dress with a red plaid choker that’s perfect for this time of year. It looks too cute with my red TOM wedges and pulls the outfit together so nicely. A bright red lip will make this look even more festive!

Outfit Details- dress: H&M, choker: Forever 21, heels: TOM, watch: Kohls

Some pattern pants are always a good way to go for the holidays, they are perfect for the guys too. Check out Bonobos menswear here. I paired this creme tank with my polka-dotted pixie pants from Old Navy. They are perfect for church. I tied the look together with my lace up heels and a bold red lip.

Outfit Details- tank: TJ Maxx, pants: Old Navy, heels: DSW, watch: Kohls

For the more casual occasion I have paired my maroon cowel neck sweater with some flared jeans for a fancier feel and my maroon booties. Throw on a cute cross body purse and you are good to go for the evening.

Outfit Details- sweater: TJ Maxx, jeans: Gap, booties: Old Navy, purse: Gap, watch: Kohls

Which outfit was your favorite?! Let me know in the comments below along with any questions, comments, or requests you may have. If you’re still looking for some ideas be sure to stay on the lookout for a few more ideas coming your way Friday. Thank you all so much for reading. Have a great day. With love, McKenz.

Gift Ideas for the Gals (under $50)

The holiday season is in full swing which for a lot of people means being stuck with no ideas on what to get their gals. I’m here to get rid of that uncertainty and  give you some ideas for all of your girl friends and sisters. I tried to keep all of the gift ideas under $30 to help keep you from breaking the bank (except for the Kendra Scott necklace that I couldn’t help but throw in!). IMG_2652.JPG

Swell water bottles have been everywhere lately and they are just too cute. With a variety of colors, finishes, and sizes you are sure to find now that is the perfect gift. Add a personalized monogram to it and you just gave such a practical gift while still showing some thought.

I’m pretty positive no girl would be disappointed with a little bit of makeup in their stocking. The Too Faced better Than Sex Mascara is a great gift, they come in so many cute holiday sets around this time of yer and are perfect to try before committing to the full size.

Socks used to be the gift I dreaded when I was younger but came to appreciate as I got older. Whether their a pair of fun, holiday fuzzy socks or thick knit boot socks they are such  treat to receive!

Every girl lust’s over jewelry. Pandora has some gorgeous rings and see are as cheap as $25 like the one I have pictured here! Kendra Scott necklaces are such a statement where I live and many girls wear them layered with chunkier necklaces. They are on the pricier side but would make such a great gift. (Perfect for the girls in your family!)

I hate buying books with my own money but love receiving them as a gift around the holidays. Find out your friends favorite author and treat them to a new book and some hot cocoa so they can hang by the fire! They are sure to love it.

Notebooks are another super cute idea. Wrap up a notebook, some pens, and some candy and you have a thoughtful gift just like that. Marble notebooks are all over Pinterest right now and fit so many girls aesthetics’.

Old Navy has some of my favorite booties because they’re affordable and comfortable. Sure they might be around $45 to begin with but Old Navy is constantly running flash sales or handing out Old Navy Cash so you are sure to find a good deal on them. Plus, what girl doesn’t love a new pair of shoes?!

Scarves, hats, and gloves are always fun little gifts too. They’re perfect for your trendy friend that loves layering up or lives in a colder climate! Old Navy and Target have great ones around this time of year.

There are so many other small gifts I could think of to give to your girls but I’ll leave you with these for now. I hope you all got a few ideas from this post and enjoyed it! Have a wonderful day and a very happy holidays. If you have any questions, comments, or requests please leave them below! With love, McKenz.
