Makeup Of The Week- Naked Smokey Edition

Alright y’all, last week I promised a Makeup Of The Week using the Naked Smokey palette and boy was it a challenge. This palette is my least favorite of the Urban Decay Naked palettes because I find the shadows in this particular one to be so patchy and dry compared to the original formula. The palette is so beautiful but very hard to work with on an everyday basis. So today, I am here with five different makeup looks as promised.

This week was certainly a challenge for me but that’s what I intended these Makeup Of The Week’s purpose to be. I am hoping to do a super dramatic smokey eye tutorial using this palette soon so I can use the palette for its initial purpose. As far as my favorite look, I really loved Monday! Let me know which look you enjoyed most in the comments below along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. What palette have you been using lately? Have a fabulous day, ladies. With love, McKenz.

January Empties

Hey, friends! Recently I have been loving watching empties videos and reading empties posts. I find that seeing what people have used up recently and hearing their thoughts about those products is so intriguing for some odd reason. Please tell me I’m not the only one that finds pleasure in ‘trash’!? Anyways, here I am today sharing with you what I finished up this month. Enjoy!

IMG_4218.JPG

As far as shampoo and conditioner go, I almost never use the same one twice. I am constantly changing up what I use and it takes me forever to finish hair products. I recently finished up a couple products from Suave and was super pleased with how soft my hair was after it had been washed and how replenished it felt. My only complaint for this product is I am not in love with the smell, otherwise I would give it five stars.

Product: Suave Sea Mineral Infusion Shampoo and Conditioner
Stars: 4.5/5
Repurchase: Yes

IMG_4220.JPG

This Biore face wash is beaded and leaves your skin feeling super clean. It has a minty feeling to it and I found that although it didn’t necessarily getting rid of breakouts, it did a fairly good job at preventing them. This Cetaphil moisturizer is one of my favorites. It is very thick and not meant to be used before applying makeup. After the shower and before bed are my favorite times to use this product.

Product: Biore Pore Unclogging Scrub
Stars: 5/5
Repurchase: Yes

Product: Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream
Stars: 5/5
Repurchase: Yes

IMG_4219.JPG

For makeup related products, this month I finished the Great Lash Mascara from Maybelline. I love the ‘Blackest Black’ formula of this product as I find it lengthens and volumes my lashes best. If you’ve ever been around to my blog before you would know that any day I wear eyeshadow I wear the Maybelline Color Tattoo in ‘Barely Branded’. This is my third one and I am obsessed. One pot typically lasts me a year or so, so considering I wear eyeshadow about five times a week for an average of 44 weeks out of the year, I use this product at least 220 times per pot. Seriously, best product ever if you’re looking to step your makeup game up to the next level!!! Micellar Water is the absolute best at removing makeup. Squirt the tiniest bit on a cotton round and you would be amazed that all your makeup comes off just like that.

Product: Maybelline Color Tattoo – ‘Barely Branded’
Stars: 5/5
Repurchase: Yes, already have!

Product: Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
Stars: 5/5
Repurchase: Yes, already have!

Product: Garnier Micellar Water
Stars: 5/5
Repurchase: Yes, already have!

Of course I couldn’t forget about the random products I seem to finish every few months. As many of you know, I am a cheerleader so the Got2B Glued hairspray is an essential hair product for me. It seriously holds anything. The typical nail polish remover; this one was so stubborn and made removing polishes a tedious task. As for shaving cream, whatever my mom buys I will use. Scent or brand doesn’t typically matter to me. And mouth wash; as you can tell Madison and I have been working on this bottle of Crest for quite some time now.

Product: Got2B Glued Blasting Freeze Spray
Stars: 5/5
Repurchase: Yes- a must have for cheerleaders!

Product: Up and Up Nail Polish Remover
Stars: 1/5
Repurchase: No

Product: Skintimate Skin Therapy Shaving Cream
Stars: 5/5
Repurchase: Yes

Product: Crest Pro Health Mouth Wash
Stars: 4.5/5
Repurchase: Yes

Well that’s it for my January empties. Let me know what you finished this month or if you enjoyed this type of post in the comments below! I am open to all feedback so please leave any questions, comments, or requests you may have below. I appreciate you stopping by. Have a fabulous day! With love, McKenz.

Matte Eyes + a Matte Lip Makeup Tutorial//YouTube Video

Hey all my beautiful friends, I hope you’re having a fabulous day so far! It has been quite some time since I have filmed and uploaded a video on my YouTube channel. Shortly after making it I began to feel so uninspired and felt as though I want the main focus of styledbymckenz should most definitely be my blog. Therefore I never find myself posting on my channel. Although as I was thinking about it a coupe of weeks ago, I was like… why not just do both?! Why not post whatever I want? Why not post whenever I want and stop worrying about every little detail? I realized I had been forcing myself to meet criteria that I set for myself and that is so unnecessary! I want to film and write and blog because that’s what I love to do. So that’s what I’m going to do.

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

Anyways, with several requests from my blog friends and IRL (in real life!!) friends, I decided to make it my goal to start getting back into YouTube in the new year.

So that’s what I’m doing today. As I’ve said in previous posts, I’ve been obsessed with matte eyeshadow and liquid lipsticks so I’m combining my two loves for today’s post/YouTube video.

Below are the products used prior to filming:

Nivea Men’s Shave Balm
Covergirl Ready, Set, Gorgeous Foundation
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
Anastasia Contour Kit

Below are the products featured in the video:

Urban Decay Primer Potion
Maybelline Color Tattoo- “Barely Branded”
Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette- “Foxy” “WOS” “Naked 2” “Faint”
Maybelline Chaotiques Mascara
Anastasia Dip Brow
Liquid Liner- unknown brand
NYX Lingerie Lipstick- “Embellishment”

Well, I hope you all enjoyed today’s post/video. Be sure to subscribe if you’re interested or leave me any questions, comments, or requests you may have below. Top 10 Drugstore Makeup Products of 2016

Good morning and happy Monday, loves! One of the first posts I ever made on styledbymckenz was a 2015 Makeup Favorites; today I’m doing an updated version with a twist! I’ll be sharing ten of my favorite drugstore products from this past year. I have discovered quite a few new products this year and am so excited to share them with you all! Plus they are all super affordable so they are sure to not break your bank!

Processed with VSCO with a5 presetNivea Men’s Shave Balm- $7 This product was hyped up all over YouTube for months. It is a Men’s Shave Balm but due to the ingredients it works as a perfect primer. It leaves my face feeling hydrated, smells great, and has not broken me out over the six months I’ve used it.

Maybelline Matte Fit Me Foundation-$8 This has been my holy grail foundation for a the last couple of years. It has amazing coverage and leaves a matte finish. It’s perfect for my dry-normal skin and has a wide range of colors.

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

NYX HD Concealer- $7 This concealer is very similar to the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. It’s creamy and provides a medium-high amount of coverage which is perfect for covering blemishes and dark circles.

Maybelline Color Tattoo – $7 By far the most amazing product from the drugstore. I’ve been using these babies for four years now because they’re just that good. They are the creamiest product that can be worn as a regular shadow or a base under more shadows. It also takes about a year of everyday use to finish one pot!

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder-$5 Everyone seems to have tried this powder before. It’s mattefying, long wearing, and cheap!

Processed with VSCO with a5 presetL’Oréal Pro Matte Foundation-$11 This is on the pricier side for a drugstore foundation but is well worth the few extra dollars. This foundation leaves your skin looking so good it almost looks airbrushed. It’s very dry and lasts forever. I’ve had 18 hour makeup days with this foundation and was still pleased with how it looked by the end of the day.

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara -$6 I adore Maybelline mascara. Their classic, Great Lash mascara in black is so good. It’s separating, volumizing, and doesn’t clump. Everything one could want in a mascara!

Wet N Wild Matte Lipstick-$2 These are my absolute favorite lipsticks from the drugstore. They are two dollars a pop and are the most longwearing lipsticks ever. They have a matte finish and so many shades. I would however suggest swatching them before buying; the actual shade of the lipstick almost never matches the color on the sticker.

NYX Lingerie Lipstick-$8 I love NYX products, especially their lip products. Their liquid lipsticks are so good as well. They layer nicely and have great color pay off. Not to mention they literally last forever.

Wet N Wild Comfort Zone Palette- $6 The only drugstore shadows I ever use are from Wet N Wild. This palette has eight colors that all swatch beautifully and wear so well on the lid. My high-end shadows are just as good as the ones from this palette.

If you all have any drugstore recommendations, please leave them below; I am always looking for new products to try. If you want to check out last years recommendations click here. Thank you all so much for reading. If you have any questions, comments, or requests feel free to leave them below. Have a fabulous day. With love, McKenz.

October Favorites

Seriously how is October already coming to an end… it just started like a day ago?! However, the end of the month gives me an excuse to share my current favorites with you all which I enjoy, so I’m not too disappointed. Plus there’s Thanksgiving and Black Friday to look forward to in November!

For clothes this month I have been loving my olive-green hat from Old Navy and my nude lace up heels from DSW. They are so chic, I wish I had more excuses to wear them. I also have really been loving my maroon booties from Old Navy this month.

For makeup, I have been wearing my NYX Lingerie lipsticks like crazy. You definitely need to check them out if you haven’t already, they are seriously the best!I also really loved using my Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette this month. They have some of the best shadows.

I cut my hair the month into a lob and am in love with it. I have been blowdrying it and then curling it in big loose curls which are my obsession right now.

These were a few of my favorite outfit this month, if you want to see my outfits of the week, be sure to read Weekly Wrap Ups every Sunday on the blog! It’s been fairly warm this October, mostly dipping into the sixties which allows for legs to be uncovered once in a while. I really haven’t been able to break out the riding boots yet, but hopefully soon!

As far as music goes, I have been LOVING Calum Scott, Vance Joy, and The paper Kites. Seriously the best music to cozy up in bed too. I have been reading The Perks Of Being A Wallpaper again and am really enjoying it. For my Bible, I haven been really enjoying reading random scriptures. Flipping open to a random page and reading that has been my go to tactic recently.

Well that’s pretty much all of the favorites I can think of at the moment. I have lots of exciting stuff planned for November so be sure to stay tuned for my upcoming posts. Thank you all for the continuous love and support; I am so thankful for all of you! If you have any questions, comments, or requests please leave them below! Sending all my love your way; with love, McKenz.

PS what do you all think go blooms or the 12 days of Christmas!!??
